xcaJibur Many, many years ago in Medieval England there lived a bold and wise ruler known as King Arthur and, as time passed, many legends grew round him. Among them is the legend of his wondrous sword, the Excalibur. Its magic made him king and enabled him to walk fearlessly through countless perils. The Excalibur thus represented to King Arthur the ideals of cooperation, brotherhood, sportsmanship, and hope that ruled his life. These qualities may be transplanted from the Medieval Ages to the present, and from King Arthur and his Knights to today’s teenagers, students of CPHS. In every phase of school life whether studies, sports, or social events, CPHS students are aware that they live with, for, and according to very similar ideals. In spare moments between classes, at hasty locker conversation, and in hushed classrooms each individual’s face calls to. mind that since the middle ages “when Knighthood was in flower” the importance of cooperation, brotherhood, sportsman¬ ship, and hope in the future, have not diminished; indeed, the qualities which the ancient Excalibur stood for are timeless!
