Rallies Promote Spirit Create Feelings Of Pride Pep rallies have been a big tradition for a number of years. Senior, Doug Tracy said, We should have pep rallies for every sport. Traditionally, the pep ral- lies have been only for the Varsity Football team. A new tradition is honoring others. The Cross Country, Volleyball, and J.V. Football teams along with the Band were honored. Despite this disagree- ment, most people agree that pep rallies do help the athletes. Senior, John Hackworth said, Pep ral- lies promote school spirit in support of our athletic teams. Pep rallies also give not just athletes, but the stu- dent body, a feeling of pride. I get a feeling of pride every time we sing the alma mater. It is so great that I can't even describe it. lt is also neat how the foot- ball players sing it too after being so emotionless during the whole pep rally, said Senior, Mary Kroenung. Pep rallies get better as they promote more school spirit and unveil even more school pride. 12 Pep Rallies P Llstenlng intently to Coach Jack, Srs. A Moment of Excitement A Lifetime of Memories As the sun went down and the lights came on at Eagle Stadium, there was a buzz of excitement in the air and a wondering thought in everyone's mind. Senior Amy Lynn Smith, who rep- resented the class of '88 as a homecoming princess all four years, said, lt was very special! I felt so honored by it, and it was a surprise every year. While the teachers, stu- dents, parents, alumni, and future Eagles awaited the big announcement of king and queen, Lance Cook had other thoughts. The Senior said, When l was standing out on the field, l decided that just being on the court was enough for me. After my name was announced for king, I was both sur- prised and excited. The newly crowned queen, Stephanie Neal, said, lt was a moment of excitement and an honor to represent my high school. As Lance Cook and Steph- anie Neal surveyed their do- main while circling the track, they and other mem- bers ofthe court gained spe- cial memories that they will hold in their hearts for a long time to come.
