This is Crowell's second year to play base- ball since l950. The Wildcats, c oac he d by Gordon Erwin, have been showing improve- ment. They have won two out of three confer- ence games at the time of this report. Mike Wishon, Senior pi tche r, held the strong Childress te a rn scoreless and s tr uc k out eleven batters in six innings. M5332 N 1 3 A ,pg V. f ,.. ,pf , 4 if , 'W ff' ,4 M TRACK Jimmy Thaxton carried Crowell' s colors through the District track meet in a grand manner, placing in two events, broad jump and 220 yd. dash. His Znd place in the broad jump won him a trip to the regional meet at Dallas. The c om pe titio n at the district meet was very strong with all of the class AA teams of this section along with the class A teams participating. TENNIS Crowell tennis te am composed of Billy John Rader, Gordon Graves, and Mike W i s hon rep- resented our school at the District meet. Graves and Wishon represented us in doubles and lost to the d i s t r i c t champions, Olney. Rader was de - feated in singles by Tommy Thomas of Holliday, runner-up for the district championship. VOLLEYBALL C r ow e ll's volleyball team broke even in its two games at the dis t ric t tournament. The C r owe ll girls de- feated Quanah in two sets, 15 to 1 and 15 to 9. Olney, the team that Crowell d e f e a t e d for championship last year, won first place honors by defeating the Wildcats 15 to 9 in each of two sets.
