Without them, there would be no homecoming activities. We all remember the good times associated with spirit week and the homecoming game. But there are other things that they have done for us as well. The patio in front of the school was made possible by their efforts. How can we forget the thrilling basketball games tnis year? They were responsible for getting the spectator buses for us. They also actively supported the various clubs and activities that took place throughout the year. All of this was paid for by money earned from various sales that they conduct each year. One of the biggest is the malt machine that they operate at noontime. The team was led by ALL-STATE Fullback Greg Bringard who gained 1,533 yards on 189 carries for a 8.1 average. The season started off well when we beat two class A schools, Pontiac Central and Lapeer East. The Pioneers, under 2nd year coach Vermeesch, finished the season with 3 wins and 3 losses in the league and 6 wins and 3 losses overall. This ties for the best record that Cros-Lex has ever had. Several players that made the All-League team are; Paul Bringard, Dave Richards, Bob Duff, Jim Torzewski, Craig Heglin, and Greg Bringard. We were co-champs in the league and repeated as district champs again. The team suffered only two losses before bowing out in the regional tournament. And they avenged one of those losses by beating Marysville on their court to become co-champs of the league. It was truly a team effort as different members sparked the team to victory on different nights. So many games, they came from behind on the clutch play from people such as Brian Tonge, Greg Bringard, Jon Bartley, Dan Geer, Mike VanderGraaff, Craig Heglin, Paul Bringard, and John Bringard. Whenever it was necassary to substitute, they always picked up their share of the load.Thanks, team, as you gave us a season that we will remember for a long time.
