I know you feel down and blue, As I have felt the same way, too. You think life is gone for you, But, you must realize this isn't true. You feel that all has been lost, But, you must hang on at all costs. Don’t give up on yourself, Just because of your health. I know it’s like living in hell, But one day you will get well. Think of those who love you, Let them help you pull through. Fears are meant to share, Trust in those of us who care. Think of all you can give. And how wonderful it is to live. Nancy Bourdeau The center poem was written by Nancy to a patient who also had Hodgkins disease, but had given up The pictures are from Nancy’s trip to California in the summer of 1978. Two weeks after her return, Nancy was admitted to the University of Michigan Hospital, where she remained until her death. JUUiaorial 5

IN MEMORY OF NANCY BOURDEAU BORN MAY 19, 1961 DIED SEPTEMBER 8, 1978 Nancy Jean Bourdeau will always live in memory of her classmates and friends because of her pleasing personality. Nancy was born May 19, 1961 in Ferndale, Michigan. Her family moved to Lexington Heights in 1974 and she attended the Croswell-Lexington schools. In February of 1977, Nancy was diagnosed as having Hodgkins disease, a disease which is 85 percent curable. Enlightened with the meaning of life, Nancy spread love, strength, and friendship among everyone. After 19 months of Hodgkins disease, Nancy died on Sep- tember 1978 leaving an emptiness in many. As the years roll by . . . We laugh and cry. Our friendship grows . . We've so much to know. The days fly past . . But memories will last. The end seems near . . . The future unclear. But as we’ll see . . . The best is to be. Nancy Bourdeau Mtaorial 4
