V + ■ t The clock ticks on, time continues to go by. Students at Cros-Lex grow older. Instead of growing apart from one another as they age through high school, they grow with a strong bond of togetherness, binding them as one. We the staff would like to dedicate the 1975 Pioneer yearbook to the student body with the memory of togetherness. ri i Table of Contents Administration and Faculty............page 4 Seniors...............................page 13 Activities............................page 49 Juniors...............................page 65 Organizations.........................page 77 Sophomores............................page 85 Sports................................page 96 Advertisements and Appreciations . . .page 105 Superintendent Mr. Jack Caldwell Back row, left to right: Dr. Charles Williams, Mr. Lyle Clarkson. A faithful friend is the medicine of life. Homer Friends are like fiddle strings, they must not be screwed too tight. H.G. Bohn Are you serious, Mr. Wark? I know I have a beautiful bod! Friends are not so easily made as kept. George Saville Friends are like melons. Shall I tell you why? To find one good, you must a hundred try. Claude Mermet 41 He does good to himself who does good , , , to his friend. We have been friends together In sunshine and in shade. Erasmus Caroline Norton TOP TEN Jim Stover Jayne Stover Sherry Wagar Paul Ehart Debbie Turpin Jeff Peresta Sharon Fockler Melinda King Margaret McClelland Ken Smith 42 The Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the class of 1975 are Jim and Jayne Stover. Jim’s grade point average is 4.00 and Jayne’s is 3.93. Because Jim and Jayne are twins, this year’s high- est academic honors are special to them and to us. 43 «I What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies. Aristotle He is yet a scholar, than which kind of man there is nothing so simple, so sincere, none better. Pliny Crafty men condemn studies; simple men admire them; and wise men use them. 46 Francis Bacon It is better to have one friend of great value than many friends who are good for nothing. Anarcharsis Life without a friend, is death without a wit- ness. George Herbert He does good to himself who does good to his friend. Erasmus 47 48 m MEMORIUM FROM THE CLASS OF 1975 Poem By Gigi Lauzon On the inside having to look out. Give me a chance. So what if you don't love me or want me. Let me live. At least that way I've got a chance. One day surely someone will love me. Who do you think you are to kill me? True, without you 1 wouldn’t be But now that I am Let me live. I want my life. But without words How can I tell you? You’re not giving me a chance. Please, what have you got to lose, A little pride maybe? Does pride mean more to you than a person’s life? Don’t you know, I can feel your thoughts? I know what you’re thinking. Sure it’s an easy way out for you But what about me? If there were only something That would force you to un- derstand. My life will be something like yours There will be ups and downs friends and lovers games and songs Pets and feelings color and sound flowers and crayons I don’t want to miss these things. I wish I could communicate with you. I understand there are pressures on you. I heard your mother crying “What will the neighbors think:” Is what people might say more important to you than giving me my life? Soon I’ll be out of life one way or another It really doesn’t make much difference to you. But to me it’s life or death. Would you let me make the choice? I want to live In a few months you’ll be able to get me out of your life anyway. GLORIA “GIGI” LAUZON What difference does it make to you? Is it that big of a thing to you? Can’t you just give me away. Why do you feel you have to destroy me. Did I do something wrong: Am I at fault? Why am I being punished? I really don’t mean to hurt anyone. Just let me live I want to breathe and learn. ACTIVITIES 52 Many students gave much time and energy to make this year’s Homecom- ing one of the best ever. Everyday during Homecoming week there were “spirit” activities: Mon- day—Patch Day; Tuesday-Cake Raf- fle; Wednesday—50’s Day; Thursday- Dress Up Day; bonfire; Friday-Parade, Game; Saturday—Homecoming Dance. First Place float and spirit awards were won by the class of ’77. First Place in halls was won by the class of ’76. Second Place in both the halls and floats went to the class of ’75. The Homecoming representatives were Seniors—Cindy Allen, Wally Men- cavage, Suvi Lehesjoki, Terry Smith; Juniors-Kay Kerschenheiter, Rick Pat- terson; Sophomores-Kathy Farley, Brian Mancini. The Homecoming Queen and King were Linda O’Connor and John Reinhart. ... Whatever your labors and aspira- tions, to the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. front: DESIDERATA The time has gone away and left me with memories that I am sure to cherish forever. The Varsity squad, composed of Jayne Stover, Ken Smith, Karl Klusman, and Sharon Fockler, earned the hon- or of 1st place in both the Blue Water League and the Lower Thumb League. Their overall record in the Blue Water League was 13-3. In the Lower Thumb League the result of their labors was a final 15-1 record. The Novice squad, consisting of Paul Campbell, Jim Stevens. Robin Thibdaue, David Perpignon, Bing Adams, and Marge McCelland, did well also, The Novice show great potential, since they will be the future’s varsity de- baters. Their coach, Mr. Jack Cicala, and the Cros-Lex Judge. Ms. Marilyn Tykocki, deserve the team’s thanks for driving and attending the numerous leagues and tourna- ments. It was a good season for Cros-Lex’s debate team and one we should all remember. 81 I I am drifting I am living I am building I am experiencing I am lonely I am thinking I am learning I am hopeless I am creative I am indifferent I am priceless Melody, Gerry, Gina, Jayne, Ardie, Julie Terry Smith-Pres., Scott Phillips-Vice Pres., Wally Mencavage-Sec., Jeff Peresta-Treas., Sponsor-Mr. Mike Gkekas Shelly, Terry, Gail, Debbie, Nancy, Mary I am on sale I am growing I am bitchy I am tired I am striving I am searching I am delightful I am wondering I am speaking I am frightened I am determined lam...
