PM PIONEER MARCHING 100 FLAG DETAIL As the battle cry of the Pioneer Marching 100 rings through listeners ears, a feeling of pride sweeps -over the stands. When the band comes march- ing off the field playing the school fight song the audience knows they've got something to be proud of. At the conclusion of the 72-73 school year, summer band was spent work- ing on routines for the National Band festival in Virginia Beach, Va. The band placed 7th out of 23 bands, along with bringing home a participant award and memories of alot of fun. The band then went on to partici- pate in the Detroit State Fair Parade. Band camp followed with lots of hard work on the pre-game show for the 73-74 football season. Those in the community who didn't have the opportunity to see the show missed seeing some really great techniques learned in Virginia Beach. December brought the band to Sar- nia for the Sarnia Invitational Par- ade. Then it was on to Lexington for the annual Christmas Parade. This par- ade marked the end of Marching season for the Marching 100. Now it was on to concert season with a different style. This year is the first year the band hasn't done a Christmas concert, but instead did a winter concert. It came off remarkably well. Next came District festival and MAJORETTES Spring concert. What's next? Of course the return trip to Virginia Beach. The band really had a good time last year but imagine the feelings that have grown since then. Nothing more can be said about the Pioneer Marching 100Mexcept they are great and they have proved it more than once I Ass't Drum Major Dave Nehmer CONCERT BAND JOURNALISM The Journalism program this year was divided into two large classes. Together they put out the school yearbook and the school newspaper, The Pioneer, which appeared every two weeks in the Sanilac County Jeffer- sonian. This has been a very suc- cessful year for the Journalism classes, thanks to the time and patience of our sponsor, Miss Marilyn Tykocki , and the hard work of our editor, Dave Nehmer, assistant editor, Linda Fockler and business manager , Jeff Daw -son.
