MUNA Patriotism Each Monday morning, Student Council president, Greg Jarmolowicz, led the stu- dent body in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Taking part this year were: Multiple reading by Greg Jarmolowicz, Gilbert Brakeman, Julie Williams, and Ann Lindke (First Prize). Variety with Gilbert Brakeman, John Breakie, Karen Kleinhardt, Ron Gravish, Dennis Wurmlinger, Pat Patterson, Gary DeCocker, and Greg Jarmolowicz (Second Prize). Piano solo by Ann Lindke (Third Prize). 62 Foreign Exchange Student The Youth for Understanding or Foreign Exchange Student Program is a very worthwhile and valuable organization, which has its headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Participation in the program became a part of Croswell-Lexington High School tradition in 1963, when it was brought into effect by initiative of the Student Council. The first student to be chosen for the honor of exctmnge student to a foreign country was Carolyn Baldwin, whose choice of a second country was Germany. In 1964 Helen Walls was selected to go to Holland and in 1965 Dennis Doe visited Sweden. This year the exchange student was Mary Lu Bombyk, who toured Denmark. The honored student for 1967 is Pat Nolan who traveled to Germany. The program is supported by numerous local organizations, including: Croswell Lions, Rotary Club, Jaycees, The Child Study Club, Lexington Lioness Club, the American Legion and its Auxiliary, the Lexington Lions Club, and the Croswell Tuesday Club. The preceding are far from being the total of all the organizations who undertake to support the program. Each of the students have given lectures on their travels-both to their fellow students and to the community organizations. 63 Our Senior Year To lead us through our final year of rehabilitation we elected Mary Biskey as president, Lynn Mader as vice-president, Arlene Biskey as secretary, and Kris Joseph as treasurer. We chose a red rose as our class flower, navy blue and silver as our colors, and the greater the conflict, the more glorious the triumph as our motto. That year as custom prevails the entire institution chose the king and queen of the homecoming from the senior court, which was composed by Marie Thieleman, Elaine Zimouske, Kris Joseph, Larry Des Jardins, John Breakie, and Ron Gravish. Marie Thieleman and Larry Des Jardins were crowned king and queen by Mr. Liddicoat at the half time ceremonies. Thanks to a few alterations in creative therapy we were finally able to produce a winning float whose theme was Toss 'Em for a Loss. As a Christmas gift we treated the other patients to a Candy Cane Dream. Nancy Kanaby and Ron Cutler reigned over that year's Sno-Ball. Our drama department created a great sensation when they presented the controversial play, The Ten Little Spas. At an annual patients-warden basketball game, the decrepit but deceiving wardens won by springing quite a few of their trick shots on the unsuspecting patients. Before we could be released, it was decided that every patient should be informed on the State's legislature. So bright and early one morning we piled into three buses and took off for Lansing. The patients were able to show off their physical ability when one bus ran out of gas and had to be pushed to a gas station a short distance away. Because of the great improvement in our social behavior over the past four years, we were given the opportunity by the patients of the junior class to show off our accomplishments at the institutions highlight of the year, Roman Holiday. John Breakie and Dian Studaker were the royal couple at this year's prom. As a preparation for our long-awaited release, we were granted a trip to the country's capital. No mishaps occurred and, thus, proved we were ready to be released as good solid citizens of the United States of America. Junior Class Vice-Pres. - Vicki Bradshaw crouming Queen Dian Studaker and King John Breakie. 65 The Annual Staff Mary Biskey Editor Dian Studaker Typing aaXaaaaaaaaaXaa Marie Thieleman Layout Carl Frost Sports Kathie Caswell Proofreading Jerry Hill Sports Lynn Mader Business Manager On behalf of the 1966-67 Annual Staff, I would like to express our appreciation for the coopera- tion and patience exhibited by the faculty and the student body together with the organizations and administration.
