CLASS MOTTO: “WE STRIVE TO OBTAIN OUR GOAL” CLASS COLORS: SILVER AND BLUE CLASS FLOWER: RED ROSE Class Poem We were only Freshmen four years ago, Green and shy as Freshmen can be; We dreaded initiation, Somehow we survived it you’ll see. In September we were Seniors, And on Homecoming day, Our candidate was chosen, To start us on our way. That first year we were busy, Just learning all the ways, We could torment our teachers, These were practiced later days. November brought our Senior play, It was well attended. The name was ‘Family Circle,’ Our theatrics now were ended. Then we emerged as Sophomores, And the day finally came, To initiate the Freshmen, And we gladly did the same. At Christmas time our pictures came, Our Senior Scrapbooks, too; We were busy writing autographs, For the pals that we all knew. This year we also sponsored a show, A minstrel show at that; It was our first high school success, With jokes and ridiculous hats. In May we were guests of the Juniors, For that special social night; W'e dined and danced and merrily laughed, ’Til palest dawning light. When fall of fifty-one arrived, It found us Juniors all; We had a busy winter, And a formal Christmas Ball. We went to New York for some glorious days, Our last event as a class; All of us had a wonderful time, But, gee, it was over so fast! This fall, too, our rings arrived. And we were very proud; Our lovely nominee became. Queen of the Pioneer crowd. And then Graduation! The day came at last; And four years of wondering, Finally were past. During this season we were busy, Selling magazines, A yearly Junior project. And lots of work for teens. We had graduation parties. And lots of Senior fun; Our high school days were over, And another phase begun. March was Junior play time, W'e chose a comedy; A lot of fun, a big success, “We Shook the Family Tree.” Standing with diplomas, On that grandest Night of Nights, Were ninety-five graduates, Their eyes on great heights. When Spring came our plans were made, For the banquet and the Prom; Our theme was “South Pacific,” W ith isle magic and slender palm. So into the future, Whatever it be, We, Seniors, will face it, Class of 1 953. 9 N. Westbrook
