The Croswell Pioneers started the 1946 football season, under a new manager. Coach Gleason's vacancy, as everyone knows, was filled in very well by our new coach,John Holodnick, assisted by Mr. Cooper. The team had trouble getting the ball rolling in our first game at Harbor Beach with the game ending in a six to six tie. The second game was at Marlette under lights with the Red Raiders running away with us by a score of eighteen to six, with Dale (Mouse) Miller of Marlette, the star of the game. Yale traveled to Croswell on October 16 to take an easy game, thirteen to zero, although Croswell out-played Yale. Pur Thirty-seven - «ii y ju ail Od the unscored Sandusky team, coached by Matt Gleason (our previous coach), the Pioneers really gave them a rough- ing up by a score of nineteen to zero. Our home-coming game was with Brown City, played under a drizzling rain and a field of mud. Queen Mary Ann Dunn, sent her knights out into the field of battle. The knights were gallant and successful, as they won the game by a nine- teen to six score. In the last game at Deckerville the Pioneers won by a score of seven to zero. The Pioneers ended the season with a tic for second place with Sandusky, while Marlette and Yale were tied for first place. The football season was brought to a close at a foot- ball banquet held in Marlette.
