A group which we hear so little about and which does so much is the Board of Education. Their chief purpose is to promote the best interests of the school. The work of the board consists of setting up general policies for the school and of the signing of bills and appropriating money. The beginning of this school term was a new experience for us. Ye had new teachers and were in a different building. In October we elected Louise Keller, President; Grant Dennison, Vice-President; Geraldine Hastings, Secretary; Charles Hurley, Treasurer; and Leland Parker, representative to the Student Council. Our students are in- terested in band, and some of.the boys have played on the Junior High basketball team. Most of us take either vocal or band, taught by Miss Crawford and Mr. Mitchell, respectively. Our Junior high basketball team played Sandusky, Carsonvllle, and Lexington. Our cheerleaders were: Donna Rexford, Vera Morelli, Suzette Cummings, and Betty Ellis. 21 Our other activities included two junior high parties and the selling of pop and hot-dogs at the football and basket ball games. -BAND- First Row: S. Shoettle. The band this year was a regular school subject and met every day under the direction of Mr. J. K. Mitchell. The Cros- well High School Band played at some of the athletic games, pre- sented a program of popular music, attended the Port Huron Music Festival, and presented summer band concerts in Croswell. In September, '45, vocal became an accredited subject in Croswell High School under the direction of Miss Marguerite Craw- ford . The course res instituted to meet the increasing demand on the part of the students for specialized courses and to provide another school activity. The members of the vocal class have studied the fundamentals of music, a few composers, a little music appreciation, have prac- ticed radio technique, and have appeared in both community and school programs. As a class it has been very successful, and many of the students look ahead to next year when they will have another opportunity to improve their vocal abilities. 25 STARDUSTERS First Row: B. The Stardusters emerged as an emergency measure for the Hep-Cats of Croswell High must Hep. With the aid of Mr. Mitchell the group has furnished music for many a swanky party at Croswell High. The Croswell football team started the 1945 season without the services of eight lettermen of the 1944 season. V.'ith the exception of two tie games, v.ith Marysville and Yale, Croswell enjoyed an un- defeated season. The Yale game was the exciting game of the year, but the Marysville game was the hardest played. The tie with Yale made Croswell and Yale co-champions. 28 -BASKETBALL- First Row: H. Thlbdaue, B. The 19 5-46 basketball season might be called the warm-up session for the 1946-47 basketball season. With but one veteran re- turning, the year was spent in developing future basketball talent, rlaying a hard, sportsmanlike type of basketball, the team succeeded in winning from Brown City, Harbor Beach, Lexington, and Deckerville The most exciting game vas the last of the regular season when the Inexperienced Croswell team succeeded in defeating Deckerville. THE GIRL FROM MISSOURI The production was in three acts and filled with fun and comedy. It was co-directed by Mr. and Mrs. Rieman. At times the problems facing the cast seemed insurmountable due to the sickness, weather, and bad roads, but the play went on. HER EMERGENCY HUSBAND The class of 47 chose this three-act comedy to be presented the night of Thursday, March 28. This Is the story of a newly wed ded couple and their problems. In choosing the cast, the director was obliged to find a Wild Man . Her choice was Joe Gravlsh who couldn't have been better. The couple's happiness is complicated by the interference of the bride's mother and the groom's spinster old maid aunt. How the problem was solved is anybody's story. —GIRL RESER First Row: B. The girls chose delegates to the annual Midwinter Career Conference held at Detroit, on February 16. The club is advised by Mrs. M. Clarkson and Mrs. L. Hofmeister. The delegates were 0. Brown, G. On the twenty-fourth day of February, 1930, the charter of Chapter 51 was sealed and signed, and the Future Farmer's Club be- came a school activity in Croswell High School. The chapter has a membership of twenty-six, and with Mr. Rie- man as sponsor has been very active in school as well as in comm- unity affairs. The club's activities consist of a sugar beet raising pro- ject and of the selling of various types of seeds. Both have been successful in terms of experience. The officers of the club are: Leonard McClellan, President; Stanley Jackman, Vice-President; Wm. Mr. Cobb, our principal, and Mr. Wark are the sponsors. Social functions and activities, school problems, and business matters are planned and discussed In our meetings. The C Club was organized late this year for the purpose of creating better sportsmanship and a better student understanding of athletic activities.
