Since we were a very business-like class we went right to the task at hand, which was electing of- ficers. For that year we chose: Derwood Baker, President, Keith Ginther, Vice PresidentgSue Pogue, Secretary-TreasurergVona Brown, Student Council Member, and Mr. Guy Ashmore, Sponsor. Not many activities were open to us this year but the class parties were enjoyed by all who attended. We adopted for our motto that year: The Best in the Middle-West, is the Class of '52, The next year we entered school and our Sponsors were Mrs. Elo- as sophomores, a little more ex- ' wese Reagan and Mrs. Charlene perienced and self-assured. In f' Shields. '49-50 we chose Norman Hughes I for President, Billy Cleveland, Vex? School got under wayin '50 with Vice President, Elaine Cleveland, the election of these officers: Rad Secretary-Treasurer, Loveta Wil- Johnson, President, Rebecca Arm- liams, Student Council Member be strong, Vice President, Ira Sim- mons, Secretary-Treasurer, Joyce Hyatt, Student Council Member and Mr. Robert McCurdy, Sponsor. During this school year we tackled and successfully conquered a play, mag- azine sales, class parties, and a Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. We left CCHS that spring with high hopes and ambitions for that cherished Senior year. In 1951 it finally arrived--that year which every student waits for--when he or she becomes a Senior! We celebrated the occasion by electing the people pictured at the top of the page as our officers. Verda Doty and Joyce Hyatt represented our class as Student Council Members. Our Motto! The paper consisted of all the news and views of people around school. The staff was made up of students from the Senior class, plus a reporter from each high school class, and different students appointed from time to time to contribute the material. Seniors Sue Pogue and John Jacobs acted as Co-Editors, with Mr. Richard Travis as Sponsor and Mr. Robert Gregg as Printer. For the past two years the paper has been a unit affair and news from all the grades was included. Each of the elementary grades elected a re- porter to write its news. The staff would all agree, no doubt, that it's a lot of hard work, but the students say it's worth it! After the pros and cons were presented, dis- cussed and voted upon, they finally got started on me. When she decided to visit them to see her great-nephew, they allowed a run- away boy from a home to pose as their son. This 14-year old posed as their nine-year old son. The entanglement with their friends and his pal became very funny as the play moved along. These snapshots are from different scenes of the play scheduled for April 4.
