IN THE SERVICE DEDICATION Sgt. Charles L. Hortin, now stationed at Columbia Air Base, Colum- bia, South Carolina, was employed as instructor at Crossville for four years. After serving these years at Crossville, he was called to serve Uncle Sam in the greatest fight of all-the fight against the Axis. Sgt. Hortin is cooperating whole heartedly in this way. Presenting Page Two Service EDUCATION SERVES If one will really stop to think, He will find that a most important link In the life of every American girl and boy Is the free education that all of us enjoy. The schools serve us far better than we know For we can't use our imagination enough to show What would happen to the American ways, If we received no education in our youtfhful days. An educated one can serve his community better far Than one whose schooling is not up to par, For he knows more of happenings in times gone by- Of what he should accomplish in the future, and why Education even serves the man on the battle line, While to his country Yhe's giving his service so fineg And it inspires him to fight, and harder fightg For it's taught him he's doing it for the right. Thus it appears that education has served everyone Throughout all the time that has come and gone, And if we use it, it will still endeavor To serve us constantly in the future, forever. -Edward Armstrong.
