History of the Crossett Termite SEVENTEEN oRossETT TERMITE ,f VOLUMES OP Q 57 W W4 -.gb Just as we were busy preparing to further Crossett High School history in March T960 by moving into Shangri-La, twenty years earlier a staff of thirteen students were preparing also to add something to CHS's future fthe first TERMlTEl All the work on this 65 page mimeographed first was done at the old green school under sponsor Miss Bernice Woodward and was dedicated to Mr. D, C. Hastings, first superintendent of Crossett Schools, The graduating class that year was the largest ever-thirty-nine! During the early War years, T943-44, CHS had no TERMITE. The T945 edition was dedicated to those former students who were involved in World War ll. The first printed TERMITE appeared in l95l, the year after the move into the new high school, This, the eighteenth edition of THE TERMITE also has a historical featureftwo generations have now worked as staff members. Mr. Billy Rawls, art editor of the i942 TERMITE, and his wife who was Ruth Powell co-editor of the same volume, are the parents of Glenda Rawls, T960 staff member. ln fact, two genera- tions have worked on this book since Glenda's father deserves credit for several pages of art work in this your T960 TERMITE. The CHS yearbook has had only one sponsore-Mrs. Bernice Woodward Crawford!
