Xlfhite tallied the lone TD early in the fourth quarter. Ray added the deciding point as the Eagles were 7-6 victors. The following week the Eagles played one of their better ball games but were edged out 9-7 on a field goal in the last minute of play by the McGehee Owls. Burt ran 65 yards for the TD and XVhite converted. The next week the Eagles bounced back and defeated the NX'arren Lumberjacks 28-7. XY'hite passed to Gill for three touchdowns and to Chambers for the other. He kicked four perfect placements. The Eagles journeyed to Monticello and came back with a 14-13 victory. Wliitc- made one TD and passed to Chambers for the other one, XVhite converted twice which proved to be the difference in the hall game, The Star City Bulldogs fell victims of the Eagles 26-15. The Eagles rolled up a 20-O score in the first period and just coasted the rest of the way. XY'oocl scored two, Gill and Burt one each. XVhite converted twice. Xlilith all of the first string line hurt. the Camden Panthers had an easy time with the Eagles, Final score was Camden -il, Eagles O. The Eagles broke back in the win column with a 27-26 victory over Lake Village. Chambers tallied twice, XX'hite and Hairston, one each. Wfhite converted 3 times. The Eagles experienced their first Homecoming victory in six years with a 52-0 win over Dermott. Gadberry, a sophomore back, scored three of the five touchdowns, Hair- ston and Burt scored the other two. XX'hite converted twice. The Eagles edged the Eairview Cardinals 13-9. Gadberry and White scored the touchf downs. XVhite converted once. Then came the showdown. The Eagles had been in second place of the district standings since early in the season, behind Eudora. The Eagles put up a hard fight but were just outclassed by the fine running of the Eudora backs. Gadberry scored the TD. Final score was Cirossett 6, Eudora 20, The Eagles spread their wings and flew high on Thanksgiving, giving the Lions the worst licking in many a year. Hairston and Gadberry scored two touchdowns each and Gill, XlC'hite, and XX'ood tallied one each. XWhite converted three times. The final score was Eagles 45, Lions O. Thus the Eagles finished their second best season since '46. They won second place in the district and compiled an over-all 8-3 record.
