The 1980-81 girls' Varsity basketball team consisted of only ten players, 3 of whom were seniors: Kelly 0'Neal lcaptainl, Annette Kapczynski, and Mary Yike. Six juniors: Connie Upchurch, Renee Ivey, Carey Green, Suzette Cook, Darla Har- ville, and Robin Butler. The only so- phomore on the team was Sheila Jenkins. The team started out slow after only defeating Marist and Sequoyah but hoped to improve before the season's finish. The leading scorers on the team were: Kelly 0'Neal, Carey Green, Renee Ivey, and Suzette Cook. The Indians had a tough 5-AAA race. They lacked in experience as well as height. Mary Yike was the tallest girl on the team at 5'7 . They began to be known as the team with ten guards . Height difference never bothered them, however, for they made it up with their quickness and aggressive- ness. The girls kept up their spirit and were always ready. Way to go - We're proud of you!
