i VOLLEYBALL Varsity Girls Finish Strong The 1980-81 Varsity Girls' Volleyball team got off to a slow start, but when they started winning, they couIdn't be stopped. They had a 4-game winning streak by the end of their season. ln one of those games, they knocked Lakeside out of contention for the playoffs. The girls ended the season with a 4-6 record. They started off slowly with two losses, but the team snapped back, winning three straight. Then the team, consisting of eight boys, David Matherne, Frank 0'NeiIl, Scott Davis, Ralph Silver, David Whiting, Danny Bristol, Randy Marks, Joey Junewitz, and Trish Gibbs, Qthe only girly, really started working hard to end the season on the right foot. As a result, they defeated Stone Mountain, Sequoyah, Walker, Avondale, and Gordon.
