Mrs. Helene VanGorder The Department of Mathema- tics at Cross Keys tries to meet the needs of the students by providing courses ranging from Math Lab activi- ties, an individualized pro- gram, to courses in calculus, which should prepare the students to take the Advanced Placement Calculus test in order to exempt certain math courses in college. This year, for the first time, Cross Keys is also offering a joint enroll- ment class in calculus. The staff in the mathematics department is extremely qualified to meet the needs of the students at Cross Keys. The math staff, most of whom are new this year, are interest- ed in providing the best opportunity for students at Cross Keys to obtain the necessary mathematical background to pursue any career that they wish and to enter any college or technical institute.

Three new teachers have also enriched the staff - Mrs. Rose Trawick, Mrs. Bennie Kapplow, and Miss Dolfe Cor- vette. Marilyn Loyd, who has been teach- ing English at Cross Keys for thirteen years, is chairman of the department. Since English is taken every year by most students, it is a good thing that Cross Keys has such an outstanding depart- ment. Mrs. Ann May Miss Dolfe Corvette
