Should women be drafted? That was a major question for 1980. Gasoline was around a dollar and fifteen cents for regular and much more for premium, but the high price didn't keep very many off the roads. Mount St. Helens, a Volcano in Washington State, gave everyone a surprise by many exciting eruptions. 1980 was a super year and a great way to enter a new decade. 1980, just like every other year had its history making events, its births and deaths. We lost greats like Mae West, the legendary sex symbol of the thirties and forties. We lost Steve McQueen, the outstanding movie idol who will be remembered in such movies as Papillon, Bullitt, and The Sand Pebbles. John Lennon was shot and killed this year. Lennon, one of the original Beatles, helped in shaping and making Rock-n-Roll what it is today. These outstanding personalities will be remembered as the greats they were and for the contributions they made to the entertain- ment field. dul-
