Region Band Clinics Junior Clinic and Senior Clinic Tryouts are individual competitions. Student work on prepared material and scales prior to try outs. The students go through a rigorous tryout with two to four judges. Selections of the top instrumentalists are made. Each clinic band is made up of the best students in the Region. On the high school level the top players in the first band are eligible for All- State Tryouts. Yoshi and Regina received the honor of being able to tryout at the state level. L to R: Johnie Hampton, Bart Greene, Daniel lmboden hen the girlslboys reach camp, they will be assigned to cities, and will live in these cities for the period of Boys'lGirls' State. Two cities will ,make up a county, and the counties will make a mythical state. The assemblage will function under two political subdivisions, under the basic laws of the state of Arkansas, using the existing constitution and existing laws as a guide. T Q The caucus and convention method will be used for nominating candidates to city and county offices. Primary elections will determine the party's nominee for state offices. Petition method is used in determining how a candidates name is placed on the ballot. Lack of time prevents primaries on the city and county level of government. ln Boys'lGirls' State, the boys'lgirIs' have their own Iegistature, introduce and argue their own bills. They make and enforce ordinances regulating their cities. They conduct their own elections. They have their own police force, court of law and administer justice. The boylgirl has a chance to learn for himselflherself that government is just what he makes it.
