At the end of the week the crowning of the King and Queen took place in the gym. Last years King, Tim Olson did the honors. 1983 was a year for firsts — The DCHS pep club served a 7:30 a.m. breakfast to the football team and their parents the morning of the homecoming game and a DCHS Parade Marshall was named. Mr. Molander was given this honor. A Victory over the Velva Aggies and a dance in the gym ended a perfect homecoming week. It was a season of hard work, determination and rewards for the football team and the coaches. We saw the MAROONS soar thru an undefeated season, and capture the N.W. Conference Champion title for the first time since 1973. Divide County downed an ex- cellent Garrison football team by a score of 9 to 0 to advance to the State title game against Oak Grove at the Bismarck football field. D.C. was defeated on a cold, snowy day be a score of 21 to 10. We are all proud to be the Divide County Maroons who will always “dare to dream.” A SEASON TO REMEMBER!!! SEASON RECORD D.C.H.S. D.C.H.S. captured the N.W. Conference Title at Kenmare — naming Rita Olson, LaDawn Molander to the tourney team. The Maroons also were the district champs at Columbus with Rita and LaDawn being all tourney selections. The team support was tremendous ... the fans, the cheerleaders and the student body were on hand to give moral support and cheer the Maroons on to a 14 win 5 loss season. We had the honor of playing the dedication game of the Minot Dome at Minot, where the Maroons defeated the Parshall Braves by a score of 45 to 37.
