The excitement built with daily activities until finally the big days came. Thursday brought the coro- nation of queen, Bonnie Hingst, and king, Kent Haug- land, along with the parade. The Juniors' float won first prize. The game on Friday provided a perfect finale to the week when the Maroon football team defeated Botti- neau 8-0. Homecoming ”76 was, as Homecoming always is, a VERY SPECIAL event. Senior Float Girls’ Basketball The Maroon Girls' Basketball team provided exciting basketball for its fans this year, under the direction of its new coach, Barry Haggin. The year was highlighted by winning second in both District and Regional Tour- naments. Outstanding players on the team were Penny Andrist and Kristi Redlin who were chosen for the All N.W. During the past 31 years, he has shown exceptional musical talent and has given his students a love for music. Every year his band and choir have been the best they possibly could be, and we feel very fortunate that we have been under his lead- ership. Although we hate to see him leave, the fundamentals he has taught us and the memories he has given us will always remain with us. Our appreciation is so great that it is almost beyond expression, but in this way we now thank him for his tremen- dous contribution. 59 DCHS Concert Choir Our Sopranos Front: D. Roberts, J. Activities nineteen seventy ___seven 1977 Prom ''Together” Since their first year in high school, the Juniors worked on various activities, all for the purpose of rais- ing money for the Jr.-Sr. Prom. After much planning the work paid off. The theme, ''Together, and the song, Freebird,” played by the Roughrider band, combined with the bridge scene to make a refreshing, springtime atmosphere. The decorations were done in the colors of hot yellow, canary yellow, and goldenrod yellow with a bridge over a real babbling brook. All of this was put together to create a memorable Jr.-Sr. Prom. 72 Class Night 1977 Class Night ’’77'' was a fun filled night with the Senior class pres- enting their class poem, history, will, and prophecy adding a lot of laughs to the evening. Jim Mosser, Senior Class President, was Mas- ter of Ceremonies and helped to make the evening move along and stay interesting with all the awards that were presented. Athletic awards were given to the track teams and golfers. The constitution award was presented to Scott Binde by Mr. Sundberg. The Kiwanis Awards were given to Lois Anderson and Stan Andrist and the Moose Scholarship went to Bonnie Hingst. Bob Windfaldet received two awards, the Ambrose Alumni Scholarship and the General Mills Fam- ily Leader of Tomorrow award. Cyndi Kress was chosen as Outstand- ing Business Student. More trouble arises among Fowler, Arbutis, and Dolores Stone, daughter of the tyrannical head of the school board. Also competing for Arbutis' attention is the football coach, who goes to great lengths to keep Puddinhead Pye eligible for the team. And I’d say leaving here is about the hardest thing I've done in years. And then I realize that these have been the best years of my life. And I'm dreaming - my mind is in a haze of all that I've done. There were good times and bad times, cryin' and laughin', and so much fun. And if I could live it over, I think I'd do it just the same. I don't regret that we ever met, it's something I'll never forget. And I'm living as I lived before, with all of my friends. So many people have stayed by my side when it seemed like it was the end. And I wish someday I could repay every one. This is life, and I love it, cause I can be somebody in this world. And so I’m leaving, oh but I’m believing I'm gonna go far.
