Memories sweeten through the ages just like wine. Quiet thoughts come floating down and settle softly to the ground like golden autumn leaves around my feet. I touch them and they burst apart with sweet memories. Faded photographs covered now with lines and creases; Tickets torn in half, memories in bits and pieces. Traces of life long ago that meant so much to me-traces of life. Of going places, doing things together in the days of spring- These days were filled with happiness and dreams of joy and sweet success tomorrow... Memories pressed between the pages of my mind, Memories sweeten through the ages just like wine. I close my eyes and say a praryer that in my heart I’ll find a trace of life still there-somewhere. Memories creased between the pages of my mind (faded photographs) Memories sweeten through the ages just like wine (tickets torn in half). The words from our class song are quite appropriate for a reunion. I hope these two days are filled with memories, photographs, laughter and fun. There is a saying-“Friends are folks that you start again with where you left off last, regardless of time. Friends-have a gret time and God's blessings on you now and til we meet again. Children: Melissa-13 After graduating from Crosby High School, I attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD for two years, majoring in elementary and special education. I got married after my second year, and my then husband was in the Air Force. We moved to Minot where he was stationed. We spent two and a half years there, during which time I finished by education and graduated with a B.S. in education in 1974. I taught kindergarten in Minot for a short time before we were transferred to McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. While in Florida I worked in the records department of a savings and loan company. True to Air Force tradition, we were guaranteed four years in Florida and 9 months later we had orders again. While John was on an isolated tour of duty in Korea, I had planned on staying in Crosby, but a few months later decided to be real adventurous, got a passport and visa, and spent the next 8 months living in Korea. It was definitely an unforgettable time in my life! I came back to the States a few months before John's tour was over, and taught junior high basic skills in Crosby. Our next move was to Great Falls, MT, where I spent the next 12 years. During this time my daughter was born. I also became single again in 1980. I worked for 10 years at the Cascade County Nursing Home, eventually as head of the finance department, and also attended the College of Great Falls, majoring in business administration and accounting. In 1988, I decided to pursue new horizons and was accepted as an administrative intern with the Good Samaritan Society. We packed up and moved to Beatrice, Nebraska to do my internship. While there, I attended college at Southeast College in Lincoln. I finished my internship in June 1989 and was transferred to Harlingen, TX for two months. In September 1989 I was again transferred to Malta, MT where I am currently the administrator of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home and the County Home Personal Care Center. DARRYL LEE 1098 Safflower Lane, Sidney, MT 59270 KATHY LEE (Spouse-Wayne Holle) HC-3 Box 8, New Salem, ND 58563 Children: Anna-10, John-2. I attended NDSU from 1970-74 and graduated with a BS in Home Economics Education Food Nutrition. I spent the first year after graduation traveling for my college fraternity, Alpha Gamma Delta, as a chapter consultant. I moved to New Salem, ND (home of the world’s largest Holstein cow!) to teach home ec. in the fall of 1975. I am still employed there and proud to be a New Salem Holstein (which, you must admit, isn’t much sillier than being a Crosby Maroon!!). I do, however, prefer the school colors maroon and grey to black and white! I did take a couple of breaks from teaching-one year, in 1979, when my daughter was born and again in 1982 when I opened a gift shop, Dakota Tradition. I closed that in 1987 after having another baby and realizing I couldn’t be a mom, wife, teacher, bushiness owner and still survive. By the way, I married Wayne Holle in 1977 (which is the main reason I’m still in New Salem-hard to move a farm). We are members of Peace United Church of Christ and quite involved in church work and activities from Sunday School to hand bell choir (I found another musical avenue that doesn’t require a voice!). We are generally a happy but fighting family. We always wish for “things” and are thankful for all we have. JOHN LEWIS (Spouse-Catherine) West 3018 Hoffman, Spokane, WA 99205 Children-Walker: 10. Brief summary of the past twenty years: Work! Work! Work! DEB LOKKEN (Spouse-Michael Belock) 1235 Hole Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80915. Children: Amanda-14, Megan-9. So you want a brief summary of my past 20 years??!! Wow!! Doesn't seem possible! Well, since I won’t be there to compare my grey hair and my wrinkles with everyone else, I’ll bore you with my last 20 years. All in all the years have been good to me. There has been some rough spots. Especially the last few months. Last November my father passed away. Loosing Dad was a tremendous loss. Then in April my mother-in-law passed away. So between trips to North Dakota and Vermont, I have no vacation time left to use. So that is why we are not coming home this summer for the reunion. Well, as most of you know, we have done some moving around. We lived in Florida for 1-1 2 years, then in Vermont for about 2 years. From there to Fortuna for five years. We have been in Colorado Springs, CO now for almost 11 years. Colorado is the most beautiful state and I invite you all to come for a visit. We LOVE it here. My husband I have two lovely girls. They are the joy of our lives. My husband still works for the government at the Air Force Academy. We have a lovely home, a crazy dog and a smelly hamster. Just a normal All-American family, I guess. And, Me-can you believe this shy, quite person was a property manager for over 5 years! I just changed my job last September. I now work full time at a large Lutheran church (2500 members) as a receptionist, secretary. Sounds like a cushy job? - THINK AGAIN! - There are four pastors and 30 people on part time and full time staff. Never a dull moment. I'm a typical mom-up at 5:30-6:00 a.m. (You thought all city folk slept in, didn’t you?) to get my oldest daughter to school at 7:00 a.m., get back home, clean house and get the other daughter off to her school. Then off to work I go. After work, on the road again with kids, to piano lessons, Girl Scouts, Youth group, soccer, confirmation class and any other after school activities you can think of. I have been active in teaching Sunday school and working with our youth group at our church. We have been working to raise money at our church to send our kids to California this summer for the Lutheran Youth Convention. Amanda will be going on that trip. Our favorite pass time in winter is skiing. In the sum mer we love to camp, hike, golf and swim. A couple of years ago we had an exchange student from Norway live with us for a year. Then this past year we had a student from Ecuador for a few weeks. What a wonderful experience! Great Kids! One of our goals is to visit Norway one day. We live in a wonderful neighborhood with great neighbors. We do a lot of great parties. Our favorite parties are on the 4th of July, and of course, the Super Bowl parties. What about those Broncos? HA! Pathetic when it comes to the Super Bowl games. Oh well, anyone of you that live away from family know that your friends and neighbors become your family. Well, if you ever want to experience the ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH, please look us up, we would love to have you visit. I will miss seeing all of you. My thoughts will be with you. TAKE CARE!!! I’ve been here and there and everywhere, but mostly teaching in Alamo, ND. I plan to join the Peace Corps next year and move to a Pacific Island. Have a nice reunion. JIM NORDSTAG 3621 N. CAROL OLSON (Spouse-Lou Blanda) 221 Moulin Road, Broussard, LA 70518 Children: Nicholas-12, Rebecca-7. I want you all to know that I think it’s almost impossible for me to be attending a 20-year reunion-much less my own. Is it really true?? I have been married and living in Louisiana for the last 13 blissful years. My husband Lou (He truly does exist.) is an orthopedic surgeon. I do the average mother things, like take my kids to school, Boy Scouts, tennis lessons, swimming lessons, dance lessons, computer classes, basketball practice, soccer practice, make cookies for all school functions, chaperone school field trips, feed the cat, the dog and my family. Fall into bed and began all over the next day! Truthfully, I have lots of fun being a mother. My pet project for the last ten years has been owning my own business-Long Creek Mercantile. It has been a constant challenge and keeps me in touch with the world (outside of motherhood), Crosby and my family. Crosby will always be home for me and we look forward to coming back every summer. DENNIS OLSON (Spouse-Rayona Sue) Rt 1 Box 117, Reynolds, ND 58275 Children: Dina Spring-15, Kristie Dawn-4. After high school I attended UND-Wiliston Center. I finished my A.A. Degree in May of 1973. (I had enlisted in the National Guard, so from Feb. to May I was at Ft. Knox, KY and Ft. Polk, LA for my basic training and A.I.T.) I farmed with my dad for three years. Sept., 1976 I began attending Walla Walla College near Walla Walla, WA. Dec., 1978 I finished by courses required for a B.S. Degree with a major in health and minor in biology. It was a very enjoyable educational experience-formal and informal! Summer of 1979 I worked part time as a representative for Home Health Education Service. Also, I was working on my dad's farm. That program at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA. However, after much consideration and prayer, I decided to become a full time representative with H.H.E.S. This organization specializes in character building and health materials and family growth books. Some include the Maxwell series of Bible Stories and Bedtime Stories-the Listen journal on drug prevention. 1990 marks the beginning of my 11th year with H.H.E.S., selling to individuals, families, libraries-church, public and school. Interspersed through the last decade has been many trips! Of course there has been thousands of miles simply going across ND to visit my daughter, Dina, from my first marriage. Also, my family at the farm south of Fortuna. Then trips to the beautiful states of Oregon and Washington to visit my wife's parents. They are now living at Wapato, WA. But I’d like to highlight several trips that we’ve experienced if I may! Many of such were trips that I was able to qualify for. Feb. 1984-trip to Florida, we enjoyed Sea World, Epcot Center and Disney World, Gatorland and beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. March 1986-9-day trip to Hawaii on the Island of Oahu. Dec. 1986-National Convention at Tampa, FL. October 1987-Returned to Hawaii again, spent time enjoying all we possibly could on three islands: Oahu, Big Island of Hawaii and Maui. Aug. 1988-Trip to Lake of the Ozarks, MO. I married Rayona Sue (she prefers “Susie ) on July 19, 1981. She was working as a registered nurse previous to our marriage. SHARON THVEDT (Walker) 1324 3rd Ave. N., Moorhead, MN 56560. DEBRA TORGESON (Spouse-Rod Boldt) Box 621 RR 3, Williston, ND 58801. Children: Zachariah-1, Kylie Katherine, born July 7, 1990. Went to Minot State College for four years. Taught kindergarten, special education and remedial reading in Saco, MT for seven years. Taught first grade in Williston for nine years. In the spring of the following year after graduation, I worked for the Yellowstone Park Company before returning to Dickinson, ND. Johnney Elsbernd and I were married in June of 1972. I spent six years in banking and 1-1 2 years working as a credit manager. At that time I retired, or so I thought. By chance I fell into a profession that for the next 10 years has given me more joy than any other job. I am a licensed day care provider for seven children in my home. I feel I have the best of two worlds to be home for my family and be in my home. My two children are really a help when they are home. I was a partner in a group daycare for a short period and find home the best for all concerned. I am active in the C.H.I.L.D. Assoc., find community activities of interest to be involved in, and play the roles of wife, mother and daycare provider. Our family enjoys motorcycling, camping and boating. Johnney is also self-employed as a barber. _______________________________ BETH WALEN (Spouse-Steve Ehlers) 1209 88th Ave. N., Brooklyn Park, MN 55444 Children: Alyssa-6, Christopher-4, Matthew-3, Kevin Michael-3 months. Twenty years ago I left Divide County for Minneapolis and have lived here ever since. I attended Augusburg College where I met and married Steve. We graduated and embarked on life in the “real world. For three years I taught junior high French and English, but when I was laid off two years in a row, I decided to change careers for something more stable and which would not contribute as rapidly to prematurely grey hair. Steve has found his niche teaching adapted physical education (working with handicapped kids) and coaching both adapted and varsity sports. I, on the other hand, have been a flight attendant for 11 years, which sounds pretty stable, but the company I work for has changed four times! After nearly 11 years of marriage, Steve and I entered the real change of life: we started having children. We may be late out of the starting blocks, but we are also slow to cross the finish line. Our fourth child was born on April 25. Christopher broke out in chicken pox that same day and Alyssa and Matthew followed suit two weeks later, so Kevin’s first month was a blur of late night feedings and caring for sick kids. Music has always played a part in our lives. Steve and I, and now Alyssa, our daughter, sing in a semi-professional choral group committed not only to good music but to promoting world peace and understanding. Since I have three sisters living in the Twin Cities area, we have been able to do some small group and solo performing as well. Don't look for us on MTV though!
