Wes Hanson, Social Science teacher, football and track coach for the past 8 years at CHS, leaves this year, with his family, for Yelm, Washington to take up new residence. Originally from Carrington, North Dakota, Mr. Hanson graduated from NDSU in Fargo in 1956, and accepted his first teaching job in Crosby in 1957. During Mr. Hanson’s years here as coach, the football team has placed many of its members on the All-Conference team and this past year took the Conf. Championship. Likewise in track, the squad has the NWC title for the past two years. It is with mixed emotions that we dedicate this section of our annual to you Mr. Hanson; sadness--because you're leaving; yet best wishes for you in your new position, 34 Coach, MR. Grinoeland, Sr. There are all those early memories; one cannot get another set; one has only those. Willa Sebert Cather once wrote these words and if she had been writing of our cheerleading year of 64-65, I dop't think she could have put it more exact. Our set of memories now consists of a trophy won at the L.I.T. tournament in Regina, cheering for our football Conf. champs, cheerleaders clinic, Minot tournament, all the fun at the tournaments and of course the tears and laughs we shared over personal experiences. No, we wouldn't want to exchange our set of memories even if we could. Junior Varsity B. Thompson, Fr., K. Haugland, Soph., P. At the request of Mr. Totdahl, Superintendent, Mrs. Truax began her work in the Crosby Schools in the year '47-’48. At that time, the high school vocal work began. Each year, the students have attended, by elimination, state music contests for many years winning many first places. In the fall of 1962, Mrs. Truax accepted directorship of the High School Senior Choir. Each year the choir has taken part in contest and given Christmas as well as spring concerts. During the past two years, the choir, ensemble groups and soloists have presented a program for the student bodies of Columbus and Tioga. This has been done to promote public relations between the neighboring towns. This year Mrs. Truax retires after 18 years of service to CHS. 42 Director, Mrs. Truax Special TRIPLE TRIO Linda Benter Holly Triplett Donna Welo Doris Benter Paula Odegard Rosie Miller Peggy Murphy Faye Riveland Claudia Walen MIXED QUARTET Linda Benter Paula Odegard Jerome Johnson Bob Grundstad BOYS QUARTET Bob Grundstad Jerome Johnson Greg Hasselstrom Larry Hector Groups DOUBLE MIXED QUARTET Chuck Bissonnette Bob Grundstad Marilyn Murphy Linda Benter Jerome Johnson Jon Ness Paula Odegard Phyllis Pederson GIRLS TRIO Doris Benter Paula Odegard Rosie Miller 43 Lettermen’s Club ROW 1: Advisor Mr. Hanson, N. The wind-up of the club's year is the annual Lettermen's Club Banquet. 44 Hard at it! Junior Class Play I'm goin' get those Popoff's yet . . . I just ain’t goin' wear shoes ! Anticipation had been building up for the past week with Jeanie Hillestead being chosen the Senior queen candidate and JoAnn Peterson the Junior Candidate. Senior football players Norman Sortland, Art Glasoe, and Steven Joraanstad were picked as king finalists. Thursday was a beehive of activity as we balloted for queen, chose Norman as our king, and closed out the night with a snake dance being led to the blazing bonfire. On Friday our conference winning team came through with a 14 to 0 victory. The cries of work well done came from all classes that night as Jo Ann was crowned queen while the Sophomores clinched 1st place with their float Tweet ’em Ruff and the Seniors followed with Top 'em Maroons . Our 1964 Homecoming slowly came to an end with our ball Gridiron Nightcap finishing off another memorable week. 47 Junior-Senior Prom The Class Presidents lead their dates down the steps as the prom begins. And the band played on Dancing to the music of the Maestros. Crumpled cups, used flashbulbs, filled dance programs and scattered sawdust was the result of months of planning. But the memories of long, frothy formals, black suits and long swaying dances were payment enough for the work and effort. To each class May 1st and In the Misty Moonlight meant something different. For the Seniors our prom started the closing of a door as they saw the beginning of the end in the final sweet numbers. But for the Juniors it means that they are about to embark on their last year, with so much to come. Rosie sings the theme, In the Misty Moonlight. What a foursome! 48 Pastor Anderson speaks to us at the banquet. Baccalaureate Baccalaureate services, held May 23, 1965, marked only the first step of an eventful week for each of the 55 members of the graduating class of 1965. The Reverend James R. Stenslie gave the sermon. The Senior Choir, directed by Mrs. Tru-ax, sang two anthems, and Doris Benter sang Call Me Blessed” MOTTO - Not Evening; But Dawn” CLASS COLORS - Orchid, Ice Blue, and White CLASS FLOWER - Carnation Class Night Orchid, ice blue, and white were the colors that carried out the Class Night theme Not Evening; But Dawn for the Senior Class of 1965. The program, mc'd by Paul McPhail, proceeded as the class history, will, prophecy, poem, and prayer were read by various members of the Senior Class. For entertainment Robert Grundstad favored us with a trombone solo, accompanied by Louise Lovdahl. The different awards were then presented to the High School students and Class Night ended the second step of the way for the Seniors. 49 Graduation Our Speaker, General L. A.
