They have had .1 food sale. sold booklets and boolteovers. and are planning to do many other things in order to raise money. They are very well represented in boys' and girls' sports. Many juniors were also taking an active part in the band. orchestra, glee club. play, and the many clubs at Crosby. The 'lunior Prom was a sueeess due to the hard working ehairf man and the various committees. The juniors worked just as hard to make the Senior Ball a big sueeess for the graduating class. to which we wish the best of luck. So, with the many members of the junior class distinguishing themselves in athletic and seholastie events, it is evident that next year will be il very profitable and enjoyable one for the Class of '56. Student Council Crosby is very proud of the fact that three officers of the State Student Council are from our school. These are Ed Wortman, past president of the Maine Association of Student Councils: Pete Doak, first vice-president of the Maine Association of Student Councilsg and Dan Knight. president of the Central Maine Conference of Student Councils. This year, the Student Council has been very active in D, Knight, P, Doak, E. Wortman promoting school activities. The holiday shine that our school took on at Christmas was due to the efforts of the Student Council. We sent twenty delegates to the State Q. Conference in Augusta and five to the Central Maine 1 E It 1 Conference in Bucksport. In order to help finance our trip, the Council sponsored a dance during the February vacation. X 5 lf the Council is as active in the future as it has been this year, Crosby can be justly proud of this organization. 5 QW Q3 Front row, left to right: tl. Sholes, I. Randall, I. Gurney, S. It is the Hrst time in a number of years that the Lions have got their claws in the turf and started to roll. This spirit and determination was evident in the first game with Greenville. Even though they lost this game 13-0, the Crosby gridders showed their spark by piling up ten first downs to Green- ville's three and outrushed the Lakers 167 yards to 155. Crosby's real potential, however, was shown in the game with Fairlieldg where, after a spectacu- lar hard-fought game, the Lions came through with a 6-O victory. This game and the recent game with Lincoln, which we won 21-13, has shown what spirit and punch this Crosby team has developed and also the Fine coaching job done by mentors Charbonneau and Brown. One cannot name outstanding players in these games. Every boy did his job and did it well, which makes a winning team. The game at Bar Harbor was the toughest game this season. The Seasiders showed much spark and determination even without their star half- back, Strout. Crosby was also without Horne, who was on the bench with a bad ankle. This made the battle quite even all the way around. The game was a real test for the Lions who roared their way to a 6-0 victory over the un- beaten Bar Harbor gridders with a spectacular CContinued on page 56D FOOTIBALL SQUAD First row, left to right: K.
