Songs of the Snowman songs of the snowman like wax fruit they wait in the cupboard while the wind turns the earth to the last page like sunburn peeling off the tarry roadbed the weeping willows sway like mystic listeners dusty with daylight and the overipe dawn the sand crab digs out a balcony by pool side while rose petaled barges float lazily on powdered glass lemonage trickles down drains steaming off in effervescent energy while summer children brown like sunfish their laughter splashes across the heavy electric air soon white clouds billow in the distance like the wind jamming the trees into autumn amber yellow kites drift motionless across a decayed sky while at night the silent shadows throw their old grey beards over the mossy farm land frogs croak in the distant field it is the death song not sad, not happy but alone all leaves like lost lovers cling to their branches only to sail gracefully on a last downward glide the bears nudge each other in their sleep turning their T. V. sets down low over the land steals the shadowy bandit of winter and even the wise old owl is wearing his mask silver teeth hang like witches from a broom above the rafters the grey sky seems lost and empty as the snow sags into the corners of morning heavy mist envelops the lairs of the long john sleepers within and their smoky glasses which filled like the furnace and the frosty midnight air what dreams drift through you then rosy and warm and rare now when the shadow seems broken only by embers of green the grassy slopes appear like a three day beard by the fourth the birds have returned to the trees from nest to nest the spring concert begins and the choir sings so softly the song of the last snow man his melodies are melting away like wax fruit they will wait in the cupboard while the wind turns the earth to the last page ADMINISTRATION Tenderly now let all men turn to the earth Nancy Newhall The Superintendent Mr. Clyde C. With limited practices and few games the squad performed above expectations even though the record doesn’t show this. Our third game of the season was with Federal Hocking in the state tournament. Edsel Sims, our pitcher, gave up two hits while striking out fourteen men. This great effort went down the drain as we lost 1-0. The leading hitters on the team were Brian Spring (.385), Clay Bryant (.285), and Randy Hammond (. 281). Brian Spring led the team with ten hits in twenty-six times at the Bat. Randy Hammonds drove in six runs to lead the team. The team scored 33 runs on 55 hits while being at bat 267 times. The teams batting average was . 206. The Senior members of the squad were Edsel Sims, Randy Hammonds, Tim Baker, Don Reed, and Brian Spring. The Junior class was represented by Craig Elliott and Marc Caton. Clay Bryant, Mark Nelson, and Mike Johnson, are Sophomore members. While the Freshman class was represented by Rodney Hoffman, Joe Miller, Joe Jackson, and Bryan Gorby. 58 Track ROW 1: ROW 2: Phil Locke, Marla Spung, Dale Tokie, Arno Price, and Larry Harper.
