Is Mr. Eickelberger that boring? Trophies for what? Teacher brutality! 3 Why Is Death So Unfair Death seems so unfair. It takes the best, leaving none to spare. It leaves behind the old and mean And takes the young, the nice, the clean. Why must it recall those who hurt no one, Those who love and help everyone? Why can’t it take them that shirk everyone, Those who are greedy and hateful and wish to harm. Yet death is not unlike life. Life doesn’t give to those who strive. It seems to give to those who cheat and lie. It rewards him who gets ahead By cheating and stealing, even in bed. A few may get lucky, but none too often it seems, You hear more about the rotten and mean. From life, death should learn And not follow it’s suit. At least one should be kind to him who was nice, He never got the breaks, He was always second best. But he was cheerful and helped others in their quest For the joy he had in his seemingly carefree life. Always helpful and never a harsh word for even The worst. A friend to all, ever ready to smile Although it sometimes took quite a while. It doesn’t seem real. It doesn’t seem fair. He should still be here. He hadn’t even begun to live. Yes, he did enjoy life and others enjoyed him, Wisecracks and all. No, he wasn’t very small, And his personality was also tall. Why couldn’t death take someone who had lived? Or someone who harms others and does no good 34 Underclassmen 35 Juniors Front Row: Doreen Fish, Rhonda Dusenberry, Sheila Ewing, Debbie Altier, Christy Cavinee, Marsha Ashley, Janice Blosser, Gail Dotson, Rita Bierly, Kathy Baker, Crystal Aichele, Dorothy Densmore. Organized in 1950 under the sponsorship of Miss Carolyn Dillehay, the Library Club has participated in school affairs for twenty-one years. When first established it consisted of fifteen members, all girls. It now consists of twenty-two librarians, girls and boys, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Marthadel Lee, librarian. Enlarged to its present size under direction of Mrs. William F. Worthington, the library acquired many new books and audio-visual materials as well as new tables, chairs, and shelves. During the past years many additional books and materials as well as a new electric typewriter and adding machine, and typist’s chair have been purchased through the club and the school board. To earn money for these projects, the library club has sponsored candy sales, dances and has held two book fairs during Open House at all five local schools. The 1971-1972 Crooksville Ceramics started off the season by beating Waterford in the Preview. The Ceramics were a rebuilding unit this year after losing five Varsity members last year. This has been an up and down season for the Ceramics, even though they put forth all they had. Outside shooting seemed to be the biggest handicap for these boys.
