MR. DELMAR HOOPS President Vice-President MR. CARLIN FRANCE MR CHESTER ILE'ASURE Clerk - Treasurer BOARD OF EDUCATION The members of our Board of Education are well known to all of us. We are also familiar with their problems and accomplishments of the past years. Certainly, but few of our citi- zens are envious of their positions, especially at this critical time in our school history. In November 1950 the voters of our school district approved a Bond Issue in the amount of $220,000. This amount was intended to finance the remodeling of East, cover expenses incurred in remodeling and expansion of the Junior High School and provide for additions to North in addition to securing the needed equipment for these new and enlarged facili- ties. The projects were advertised, bids received and opened on April 19. All the bids received were above the amounts set aside for the re- DR. A. C. LAWRENCE HOBART ALLWINE spective projects. All bids were rejected, the projects readvertised with submission of bids to close May 19. A school building program is a project that comes but once in a lifetime. But to come to our Board at a time of spiraling prices it be- comes doubly dificult to accomplish the task with the funds available. Should the new bids be1 agceptable their major problem will be so ve . Regardless of the outcome of bidding on the projects we are confident that we have on our Board of Education men who possess a keen understanding and deep interest in our schools and that they will be able to appraise the situ- ation, exercise their good judgment and solve the problem to the best interest of the pupils and our community. DR. GEORGE C. TEDROW
