EAST SCHOOL At the East School you will find that the girls of the upper grades are interested in the Girl Scouts. The girls from the lower grades are members of the Brownies under the lead of Mrs. Ina King and Mrs. Dorothy Frecker. They have weekly meetings and go on hikes and also make gifts of various kinds. The sixth grade boys formed basketball teams and practiced in the high school gym once a week. Miss Heskett's team was called The Bobcats. Mr. Gannon's team was the Kilroy Reds. They're our future team so let's hope they're good. On Friday, November 19, at 8:00 p, rn., the East School children presented the outstanding performance of the year, the t'Tom Sawyer operetta. Five pages of advertisements were sold to the Crooksville merchants by the East School students. Marlin Southall and Denny Harper looked the part and portrayed the characters of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn respectively. Dick Young. dressed in a suit with a long tail. imitated Pard. A tap specialty by Polly Ann Dillehay and a baton specialty by Herberta Allard were add- ed attractions. All the music for the solos and the Tom Sawyer chorus was under the direction of our music instructor, Mr. Ramsey. The high school leniors served as ushers. They were appropriately attired in jeans, plaid shirts, and straw hats. l
