The girls from the lower grades are members of the Brownies under the lead of Mrs. Ina King and Mrs. Dorothy Frecker. They have weekly meetings and go on hikes and also make gifts of various kinds. The sixth grade boys formed basketball teams and practiced in the high school gym once a week. Miss Heskett's team was called The Bobcats. Mr. Gannon's team was the Kilroy Reds. They're our future team so let's hope they're good. On Friday, November 19, at 8:00 p, rn., the East School children presented the outstanding performance of the year, the t'Tom Sawyer operetta. Five pages of advertisements were sold to the Crooksville merchants by the East School students. Marlin Southall and Denny Harper looked the part and portrayed the characters of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn respectively. Dick Young. dressed in a suit with a long tail. imitated Pard. A tap specialty by Polly Ann Dillehay and a baton specialty by Herberta Allard were add- ed attractions. All the music for the solos and the Tom Sawyer chorus was under the direction of our music instructor, Mr. Ramsey. The high school leniors served as ushers. They were appropriately attired in jeans, plaid shirts, and straw hats. l .U 1 W . N 'V . ., 1551 W A gin cv ,,' ,F , 1 4 , K - 11 C.. A x ia 'iff s , '1 I . f Q il 54 A : 'L M A , ,. . Y , .I The Crooksville High School Music Depart- ment, under the direction of Mr. Wayne Rani- sey, has completed a very active year. The band began practice before school start- ed, to be ready to perform for the football sea- son. Among the band's outstanding perform- ances were: March of the Wooden Soldiersf the train formation in honor of Dads Night and a marching football at Roseville, The band also participated in the Homecom- ing at Muskingum College, paraded to display the new Chevrolet, and accompanied the Eagles to Lancaster. At the completion of the football season, they began practicing for the Christmas Con- cert which was very successful. A mixed chor- us of sixty voices sang Fred Waring's version . x - of The Night Before Christmas. Soloists from the mixed chorus were Nancy Pitcock, Jeannine Price. Bob Sagle, Nancy Watts, Don Morrison, Shirley Cannon, and Jack Rarick. The Formal Spring Concert given April 22 received many favorable comments. Bob Sa- gle was Student Director. Pins were given to the seniors that had completed four years in the band. Those awarded pins were Nancy McKinney and Bob Sagle. Letters were award- ed to those who had completed two years in the band. Those receiving letters were Nancy Hammers, Betty Tatman, Joan Brown, Beverly Lindimore and Rosemary Nelson. Few seniors do. The membership this year varied from 2 to 15. The activities of the B Club this year were rather limited. We had very few meetings, with the highlight of the year being a Christmas dinner with a gift exchange. Eve- ryone enjoyed themselves immensely. At one of the meetings we had the pleasure of hearing a talk about Europe by Pearl Hughes who had just recently returned from a trip ther The club sponsored a trip to the bank with all the senlors participating We were shown the warious departments of the bank and their use Some of the students were fortunate e nough to ee some gold coins All B Club members will agree that not only did they learn a lot from our lCl.lV1tl9S this year they also had lots of fun and uc wunt to take this opportunity to thank Miss Dilleh 15 for putting up with us for two semes ters of history FIRST ROW Hawk Theisen McCray Haip er Darling SECOND ROW Tatman Showeis Nelson Willey THIRD ROW Bowers Karns Burley Brown FOURTH ROW Fierce Giles Watts Rarlck FIFTH ROW McClain Watts 'le hschmidt Morris QXXII Al , x 7 QI H 7' I ' s . GEORGE STOCKDALE, one of the seven seniors on the team, was a replacement for Sagle. HAROLD WISEMAN, a substitute forward and guard, was very aggressive on defense and another of the seniors. JACK CTriggerD RUSSELL, one of the steady substitutes of the season at guard. He is a junior. DON TROUT, a substitute guard and for- ward is a very accurate set shot. They practice almost as much as either the foot- ball or basketball team, and all their yells are ex- ecuted with split second timing. Our cheerleaders this year include two se- niors, Nancy Pitcock and Glenna Jones, one ju- nior, Dona Sue Leasure, and a Sophomore, June Karns. Without the cheerleaders and their yells, our team would have a tough time keeping up their morale. That constant chattering, and urge from the grandstands, is that certain something that makes a fellow want to keep on .plugging when he is winning as well as when he is on the small end of the score. They also add color and stunts to the assem- blies at school before games. Miss Dillehay and her girls come up with so many really good stunts and ideas, that it sometimes seems impossible for them to think up new ones, but they always have a new idea for every occasion. The team and coaches wish to extend their sin- cere thanks to these untiring cheerleaders, who kept our spirits up all season. Y FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! YOU GOTTA' F-I-G-H-T!
