CLASS HI TGRY Ten ltttle tots entered Cromwell School rn September 1944 Among us were Dtck Baker Bobbe Burns Mary Lourse Foltz Marty Gard Harvey Herntzelman Jams Maggart Brllre Maloney Edward Schlabach Tharon Smrth and Martlyn Wrtght Under the dtrectron of Mrs Bunger we started our formal educatron Davtd Nesbttt and Audrey West Jomed us rn our second year of school Audrey left us the same year Mary Lourse Foltz also left us Jerry Mrller and Arthur Srmmons Jomed us and brought our number back to ten Donald Burns l-larold Harper Joseph l-lelntzelman and Barbara Montel Jomed us whtle Btllte Maloney left us tn the thrrd grade Mrs DeMotte taught us good manners Jams Maggart left us m the summer months and Jrmmte Luna and Carolotta Rrder jotned us for the fourth grade Jean Burns Jolned us to take the fourth grade over because of lllness In the frfth grade we were Jorned by Jams Maggart We moved to a new room wrth Mtss Ebert as our teacher We lost Donald Burns Harold Harper and Joseph Hetntzelman so we agarn numbered ten Then Barbara Montel moved to Warsaw Indrana 1n January 1949 Jrmmre Luna left us tn the srxth grade and Marty Gard moved to Argos Indrana tn January We were begrnmng to grow up rhts year as we elected cheerleaders for our young basketball team In the seventh grade we were Jorned by Marty Gard and Peggy Plumb Jams Maggart wtthdrew after two weeks of school and Peggy Plumb wtthdrew tn December Jams Maggart returned rn March to frntsh the school year We chose Harry Bollrnger as our sponsor In the erghth grade we were a happy class of srx grrls and two boys We chose Mlss Sulltvan as our sponsor and presented a one act play Co Ed Club LH front of the hrgh school In the fall of 1952 ten gtrls and seven boys entered Cromwell Hrgh School as green freshmen Our class was mcreased by the transfemng of Jerry Btrch Judy Embree Gayle Fausnaugh Everett Fought James Hrcks Eddle Johnston Maryann Murphy Ernest and Sharon Rathke from Krmmel School W chose Mtss Rerth as our sponsor Our class offrcers were Sharon Rathke prestdent Bobbe Burns vtce presldent Jerry Brrch secretary and treasurer We all dreaded the rmtratron but we managed to survtve xt Jams Maggart left us tn October after 1nrt1at1on'and Korean Senslbaugh Jotned us rn January to flmsh out our freshmen year We put on a one act play Why Teachers Go Nuts . . Durtng our sophomore year we chose Mr Ness as our sponsor and we took our turn at Settlflg the freshmen on the fountarns and grvrng them a rough rnrtratron Class offrcers were Marrlyn Wrrght presrdent Everett Fought vrce prestdent Maryann Murphy secretary and treasurer We selected royal blue and whrte as our class colors and ordered our sweaters All that could be seen runnmg around were s1lly sophomores clad rn blue and whrte Jams Maggart Qrf you recall seetng thrs name before thmk nothrng of 10 returned for the last ttme at the begrnnrng of the school year to settle down and stay wrth us Marty Gard and Eddte Johnston left us durrng the summer months Drck Baker left us at the end of hrs sophomore year We put on a one act play A Quret Home Weddrng Our junror year seemed to bc the most exclttng Beverly Sheets moved from Ltgonter to jorn at the begrnmng of our junlor year We selected Mr Stowers as our sponsor Our class offrcers were Ernest Rathke preident Everett Fought VICE prestdent Sharon Rathke secretary Bobbe Burns treasurer We ordered our class rrngs about four weeks after school started and we anxrously awarted thetr arrrval In October we presented Fuedm Over Yonder to what we thought was one of the largest crowds ever to gather rn Cromwell Hrgh Gym Before Chrrstmas we accompanred the semors to Indranapolis to vrsrt the State Legrslature In January we started meettng secretly and keeprng the semors rn suspense about the receptron We decrded to have our banquet at the Van Orman Hotel rn Fort Waynxnd went to the Clyde theater and saw Conquest of Space The banquet was enjoyed by all We were all surprrsed by a recordmg of Mr Bonahoom one of our former teachers that was secretly arranged and sent to us from Texas where he was statroned rn the U S Army In September 16 boys and grrls entered Cromwell Hrgh School for therr last year We were pretty proud of the fact that no one had qurt school durrng our junror or semor year We selected Mr Gould for our sponsor and our class offrcers were Jean Burns presrdent Tharon Smrth vrce prestdent Gayle Fausnaugh secretary and treasurer The photographer from Roberts Studto came 1n October and took our graduatron prctures Several weeks later a salesman from the Berry Parnter and Company vrsrted us and asked rf we wanted to put out an annual Srnce there hadn t been an annual publrshed for srx years we decrded to put out one In November our Crvrcs class journeyed to Dearborne Mrchrgan where we vrsrtcd Greenfreld Vrllage Everyone was qurte rmpressed and enjoyed the trrp rmmensely After Chrrstmas we all prtched m and worked hard to make our annual a success Fmally the trme came to select a play and we chose a comedy called Strtke Three Frve gu'ls rn our class recerved sweaters for berng rn G A A and three boys recerved athletrc jackets We also had a boy who recerved a jacket for bemg student manager s I , 1 1 1 1 1 n . 1 1 1 u . , I -I H . - I 1 - 11 1 . .
