Lieutenant Commander James K. Kuhn, a native of MT. Vernon, Illinois, graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He received HI conunission through Officer Candidate School in )uly of 1982. His sea duty assignments include: Boilers Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant, USS SCHOFIELD (FFG-3); Engineenng Officer, USS INGRAHAM (FFG-61); Gas Turbine Examiner, PACFLT Propulsion Examining Board; Fleet Scheduler and Fleet Navigator, Commander, SEVENTHFLT; and Executive Officer, USS CROMMELIN (FFG-37). His shore assignments include: Freshman Instructor and Executive Officer, NROTC Unit, The University of Michigan, at Ann Arbor. Lieutenant Commander Kuhn ' s personal a vards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of fourth award), and the Navy Achievement Medal. CDR ANDREW G. SEVALD, USN Commander Andrew G. Sevald, A native of Royal Oak, Michigan, graduated from Michigan State University in 1975 with a Bachelors of Arts in Chemistr ' . Upon graduation, he entered Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in November 1975. In March of 1985, he entered Nuclear Propulsion Training, qualifying as a Reactor Plant Watch Officer in February of 1986. His sea duty assignments include: Supply Officer, USS CHOWANOC (ATF-100); Gunnery Assistant, AuxUiaries Officer and Navigator, USS MERRILL (DD-976); Engineer Officer, USS fOlIN HANCOCK (DD-98I); Reactor Mechanical Assistant. Reactor Controls Assistant. USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65); Executive Officer, USS ARKANSAS (CGN.41). His shore assignments include: Conibat Systems Instructor, Surface Warfare Officer School, Command Detachment, Coronado; Executive Officer, Naval Nuclear Power School; Chenjistry and Material Instructor. Senior Officer Ship ' s Material Readiness Course, Ne ' wport, Rhode Island.
