He groduoted from Colifornio Stote College ot Hoyaiord in June 1968 yjith o Sochelor of Arts Degree in Politicol Science. He ijUQs commissioned on ensign in November 1968. Commonder Vosseler ' s first ossignment uuqs in USS PICKING (DD 685) os Com- municotions Officer. Upon PICKING ' S decommissioning he otos or- dered to the USS JOHN POUl JON6S (DDG 32) ujhere he served until August 1 97 1 . In February 1 972 Commander Vosseler report- ed to Commander, U.S. Naval forces Advisory Unit, then as Com- mend Briefer for COMNnVFORV. in 1973 he attended the Novol Destroyer School in Neuuport, Rhode Islond, follouued by assign- ment to USS RICHnnO S. €DUJnRRS (DD 950) os uueopons officer. Commander Vosseler ' s next assignment uuqs as executive Offi- cer in USS GROHnM COUNTV (RGP 1 176). Upon Graham County ' s decommissioning in March 1977 Commander Vosseler uuqs as- signed to Commander, Patrol Division 21 as Chief Staff Officer until its disestablishment in July 1977. In August 1977 Commander Vosseler reported to the Staff of Commander, NovqI Surface force, U.S. Pacific Fleet uuhere he ujos assigned first os Force Levels Officer, then as Future Opera- tions Officer until December 1979. Commander Vosseler ' s next assignment uuqs Aide Flog Secretory for Commonder, U.S. Novol Forces Caribbean Commander, Fleet Air Coribbean Commonder, Antilles Defense Commond. He uuos then ordered to duty in USS D€VO (DD 989) os Executive Officer. In Jonuory 1983 he report- ed for duty uuith CNMPC as Head Fleet Commond Support Branch follouued by assignment os the Assistant Surface CoptQin Assign- ment Officer. In November 1984 Commander Vosseler uuqs as- signed OS PCO for the reoctivation of ex-USS SPHINX (ORL 24), and became Commanding Officer upon the commissioning on 26 July 1985. In June 1986 he uuos ossigned os executive Rssistont to the Navy ' s Chief of Legislative Affairs. Commander Vosseler assumed duty as Commanding Officer in USS CROMM€llN (FFG 37) on 25 August 1987.
