Dennis Engstedt and Delores Harrom were picked for their highqideals and fair play. The purpose of the Babe Ruth awards is to disseminate information on and to enlist enthusiasm for good sportsmanship and for play. The spirit of fair play and co-operative effort in school and community re- lations is one of the principal basis for selection. Sportsmanship in , activities in the schoolroom, on the athletic field and playground, in the school community, and home and church environment are gravely con- sidered. The awards are not given solely for competitive excellence, popularity, winning the most letters, holding the most offices and the like---although some weight is given to these factors. A very broad interpretation of fair play and sportsmanship is adopted. .
