Commercial Club A commercial club has been inaugurated in the Crofton Commercial department, to promote interest and adeptness in this field. This club is sponsored by Mr. Hermsen, the commercial teacher, under the auspices of the Gregg Publishing Company and Today's Sec- retary Magazine. It is a nation-wide organization, promoted for the benefit of students and teachers in both high schools and colleges throughout the country. The fields of typing, book keeping, and shorthand are represented in the Crofton Commercial Department. The awards consist of certificates, pins, and trophies. In shorthand, awards are made for artistic writing and speed. Certificates and pins are granted for 60, 80, 100, and 12.0 words a minute, the preceding being executed with a mini- mum of errors. Typing awards are made for speed, precision. and neatness of arrangement. Neatness, knowledge of the subject, and accuracy are necessary requirements in bookkeeping An accomplishment for any commercial students is the Certificate of Attainment, represent- ing the passing of junior and Senior Membership Tests in both typing and shorthand, and speed tests, up to 100 in shorthand, and up to 50 in typing, and the Complete Theory in Short- hand .
