And may there be no moaning at the bar When I put out to sea. Tennyson fit Uv. LfeR y Fau i For 23 years this beloved teacher dedicated his life to the Agriculture department of Crockett High School. Many pages could be written of the kindness he performed, of the love he kindled in the hearts of those who knew him. and of the devotion he had to family, friends and fellow teach- ers. 7 Qchootis Bo uL President JIM G. In addition to the usual half-time shows, pep rallies, concerts, and parades, the band performed pre-game activities at an SFA football game in Nacogdoches, received a third place at the Christmas Parade in Bryan, and participated in the 18 JiJi llJkl Iflif if dog BomjI Buccaneer Days in Corpus Christi. First division ratings were received by both the marching and con- cert bands at UIL contests. The 1966 Bulldog Band should be commended for its fine representation of the school and community and its extremely success- ful year. DRUM MAJOR Laura Jean Grimes THE TWIRLERS Arnold twirler 2 yrs. At mid-term we became the first occupants of the new elemen- tary building. In the second grade we were still under the impression that school was still to be looked forward to. We were under the guidance of Mrs. Gussie Easterly and Mrs. Bes- sie Faver. We were guided through the next few years by Mrs. Robert Barclay, Mrs. William Schmidt, Mrs. Louise McLean, Mrs. Katy King, Miss Kathryn Hassell, Mrs. Lucy Skipper, Mrs. Ernestine Smith, Mrs. Ted Barbee, Mr. Brown, Mrs. Hunter Morris, and Coach Stevens. In the eighth grade, Gloria Maples was valedictorian and Betsy Julian was salutator- iam We went from big shot” in Junior High to lowly fish in High School. Will any of us ever forget that first day! Everyone looked so OLD! The officers our fish-year were Carroll Sullivan, President, Johnny Bennett, Vice- President, and Diana Parks, Secretary-Treasurer. We presented the beautiful Flower Drum Song” to the sophomore class. Well, would you believe pretty? Our sophomore officere were Linda Dickey, President, Laura Jean Grimes, Vice President, and Angela Satterwhite, Secretary-Treasurer. The girls ruled! The Fresh- men gave us a lovely party which was truly an Enchanted Evening. Our Junior year can be summed up in two words--Rome Adventure--. The work, time, and effort was all worth it when on Friday May 14, we presented Crockett High School with the Best Prom Ever. Our officers were Paul Dawson, President, Jimmy Roberts, Vice-President, and Jeanne Rector, Secretary-Treasurer. All too soon we realized that we were listening to Mr. Stewart’s opening day speech for the last time. The officers our senior year were Jack Woodward, President, Smith Satterwhite, Vice-President, and Gloria Maples, Secretary-Treasurer. Football season came and went leaving the seniors with memories that will last a lifetime. After mid- term we started on the home stretch. Those last five months passed by before we knew it. We found ourselves doing so many things for the final time. The Juniors treated us to a night on a Showboat. It was a night we will never forget. Now we have arrived at the end of our public school life. We will go our separate ways—but will always remember our wonderful years together in C. H. S. School officials and guests await the beginning of Commencement 124 Gloria Maples delivers the valedictory address 7ti oj 1966 Chuck, please don't go. 125 Betsy Julian receives last minute instructions from her Dad 126 Getting ready for the last march Frances Rameriz, Jackie Durrett, and Diana Parks caught by candid camera 127 Seniors sing the Alma Mater D Q liMdtiCW The Bulldog Staff wishes to ded- icate the Senior section to Mrs. Gen- evieve McClain and Mr. Jere Nichols who have given us courage and in- spiration to do our best.
