In my message this year, I would like to, first, direct a few remarks to the Senior Class of 1961. As you read this note, you will have participated in the Eighty Ninth Commencement Exercises of Crockett High School, and you will have your diplomas as members of the graduating class of 1961. The fact that eighty-eight classes have preceded you here in this school is quite a record and each of you should feel that you are in a way the recipient of a rich heritage. However, it is too late to dwell in the past; now is the time to look to the future. Face the future with a renewed determination, and bolster that determination with a one hundred per cent effort, and you will continue to climb the ladder of suc- cess. Congratulations on your graduation and on the production of this splendid annual. To you. the members of the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, as you return to school in Septem- ber to take your respective places here in your school, I would encourage each of you to also attack each task and assignment with renewed determination and effort. Do not be satisfied with just trying to get by. Go the extra mile. Not only will you receive a deep personal satisfaction from doing more than is expected of you. but at the same time you will be helping to prepare yourself for a happier and more successful life in this decade, sometimes spoken of as the Exciting Sixties, but also in the other dec- ades to come. Best wishes. Gailen Stewart Principal
