''The 1979 marching season for the Rocket Band was their time to shine. They worked many long hours in preparation of their show. The Band participated in a total of eight parades and contests. They received one 1st place win, four 2nd place win, and one 3rd place win. This year the Band had a new director, Sam Davis. The Concert Band gave a Christmas concert. Spring concert, and performed at gradu- ation. Caryn Shewcraft was field commander and Kim Thurman was auxiliary captain with Jamie Hubbard as auxiliary co-captain.
