How time has flown! .lust four short years ago under the com- petent guidance of President Shirley Trudeau, the class of '53 made its debut in C.H.S. They made a lasting impression on the faculty and the student body with their fine assembly, dance, and other programs. All this was accomplished with the aid of sponsor Mr. Paul Evancoe. The sophomore year was opened with a resounding tronncing of the newly adopted freshmen in the traditional frosh-soph brawl by the score of 85-32. Class sponsor Mr. Oscar Bixby was the master mind behind the victory. Polio cancelled many of the planned activities but the sophies produced a well-appreciated talent assembly and had a hand in many of the school's various drives and other functions. As juniors, the graduates to be of ,53 presented an inspiring assem- bly concerning the Independence of Panama, Under the leadership of Vernon Bryant, class president, and sponsor Mr. Merlin Davey and Miss Bess Liter, an outstanding Junior-Senior Prom was given in honor of the seniors. It was also at this time, that the election of S.A. officers took place. Three class members were elected to the various positions for the forthcoming year. They were Carl Pinto, Presidentg Ann Thomas, Secretary, and Leo Constantine, Treasurer. With the arrival of the school year ,52-'53 the newly-become seniors displayed wise judgment with the selection of Leslie Rinehart as class president. Les and Mr. Cook, senior advisor, proved an able pair as their combined talents enabled the seniors to put over an interesting and enlightening program on Theodore Roosevelt and a memorable Christmas Dance. The final year found the towering seniors leading the way in nearly every school activity. . '53 l qrea YearsHencej While looking- through old newspaper files, one notices that the C.H.S. Class of '53 has many notable celebrities. KAY ARGO and ANN THOMAS are well-known Con- over models. Kay and Ann both are also retired registered nurses. GEORGE BENNETT is now famous as the Hsinging bar- ber of Hollywood, and has made many musical hits in the last few years since he invaded Hollywood. Also in Holly- wood is the outstanding side-splitting comedy team, JIM SCHEIBELER and JAMES EVERETT. This team's favor- ite sidekick is singing and acting sensation, ISAAC PEL- TYNOVICH, who obsolutely refuses to change his name to something more pronounceable. Isaac is now rumored to be making eyes at Academy Award winner, MARGARET JOUDREY. Margie's friend, SUNNY MORLAND, is the latest thing in slapstick comedy, along with her straight- faced partner, NANCY KARIGER, who also holds the Olympic Woman's High-jump record, and tends a home, hubby and six kids, after working hours. Guess what? ANSELMO ARIAS is Hollywood's new Tarzan, and DICK REED is the latest bobby-soxers' dream- dish. Dick is rumored to be an Errol Flynn and Rudolph Valentino rolled into one, with a reputation as an interna- tional heart-breakerg but he has a close rival in ROLANDO VILLALAZ, who has made all the Valentino-type pictures so far. LOTTY STEVENSON is Dick's latest picture team- mate, although the two don't get along outside the movies. Lotty is famous for her flowing locks and siren parts. RICHARD TATELMAN owns a huge movie studio, and also Dick's and Lotty's contracts, along with several thou- sand othe'sl Tatelman's personal secretary and Art Director is YOLANDA PENAHERRERA. As a side-note Dickie has just borrowed WILLIAM WETZEL from RKO. Bill is known best for his James Mason-tough-guy-roles. LORNA STONE is principal of the International School of Languages, which she founded, through the U.N. Now to the sports world. VERNON BRYANT, famous Notre Dame football star, is now Notre Dame's coach. Also in the coaching field is LESLIE RINEHART, who broke all the records in West Point's history, and now coaches their team. ROBERT ORVIS has made a name for himself in the Sports World, but has now settled down to selling insurance. JIM DOYLE is a renowned sports announcer, and cham- pion flag pole sitter. ALLEN SIMONS is also an an- nouncer, but is better known for his singing commercials. ARTHUR BLADES and TOM BRENNAN are partners in La Nu Cockroach Killer Co., and are making money hand- over-fist! JUDY CHAN, GINETTE WACHTEL, and JAMES WILSON are partners, also. These famous scientists have made innumerable revolutionary advances in the field of Science. Judy does research, Ginette, calculations. and Jatnes, experimentations. They, naturally, incorporate their results. LEO CONSTANTINE is now called the greatest gen- eral ever known and is famous, also, for his dry wil, friend- liness and mathematical genius. LESLIE CROFT has teamed up with BARBARA EGOLF in a radio program that is pushing I Love Lucy right off the air. JACKIE HEDRICK is tending her home, kids, and hubby. Site just finished working her way through college. HENRIETTA FERRI, DARELL GREENE, and CHARLES GERCHOW own the world-famous Explorer's Hotel chain, which features the best hotels, even in darkest Africa. BOB GRACE and EULALIA GUARDIA, famous com- mercial artists, have opened a school for budding artists. Bob is also known as a first-rate singer and play-boy. MARY HALL married into the Army and is now in Germany, where she entertained former classmates JULI- ETA LEWIS HEMMERLING, ARLENE LIM, and MIL- DRED MARQUARD, during their stay in Germany, while they were participating in the '63 Olympics. All three guests ltold records in their different fields and Mary's latest novel has just made the best seller list. LIDIO McKAIL and RALPH HARRIS now own the biggest fishing equipment factory in the United States and are sougltt-after millionaires, but they are confirmed bache- lors. Their side-kick, CARLETON HALLETT, is also a millionaire, but not a bachelor! He married his millions, and spends his leisure time on Safaria in darkest Africa. LOUISE JONES and LOIS SCHEIDEGG are contin- ually vieing for the worId's speed record in typing. How- ever, in private life they own an exclusive secretarial school and are good friends. JEANETTE MCKEOWN is happily married to a well- known Senator. While in Washington, she pals around with BETTY TARR, the U. S.'s first lady Speaker of the House. RAUL SWALM is the greatest pitcher in the major leagues, and his Irish friend, BOB DONAHUE, is his partner in a restaurant on 42nd St. in N. Y. RUBY PABON is the owner of a very exclusive dress shoppe. Her good friends, NANCY and DINAH SASSO, own an equally expensive and famous dance studio. Nancy just got back from a short jaunt to Europe, with her hubby. DAVID RUBELLI has just invented a new-type electric socket. Besides the fame this brought, he was already well- known as a great back-stage manager on Broadway. Also on old Broadway is comedy sensation MAX PRETTO. His act consists mostly of various scales of laughter! A most unusual and highly popular act! DON PONDER is the motorcycle speed king of the world. He has broken all records, not to mention a num- ber of bones. In his dangerous life, the can't even get in- surancel he should have stayed a bachelor. He didn't. He has a wife and eight kids! Famous physician CARL PINTO has finally found a cure for the common cold. His discovery arose because Ile kept a constant cold. He keeps a stable-full of thoroughbred horses as a hobby. Two of these beautiful animals are Ken- tucky Derby winners. ROBERT SALTER, acclaimed engineer, is believed to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown, simply because he has plans and blueprints of a bridge. But not an ordinary bridge! Oh no! It is a bridge from Europe to the U. S. He is well known for his unique designs, but this one is a little too unique. BARBARA and MARY SHERRY own the best interior decorating palace in the world. They are on their way to Europe to redecorate England's Royal Mansion. CHARLES SMITH recently inherited forty million dol- lars and a 100-foot yacht. He is now on a world tour with EDWARD STERN and ROBERT LAWRENCE, his cham- pion Tarpon-catcher friends. Last. but by no means least, are the Rhumba Kings, JAMES and JOHN TORNE. They have won all Rhumli contests, besides being the coffee kings of South America. These billionaire men-about-town represent the end of the tour of the fame and fortunes of ye ole Class of '53. As the yearbook goes to press, this sport is just getting under way, but rec- ords are expected to tumble with such thin-clads who are pictured from left to right: Tom Hughes. hurdler, and broad jumper. Tommy missed the low hurdle record by 3f10ths of a second last year and is a veteran track letterman. Anselmo Arias, distance runner, im- proves his performance with every race. Bob Grace, middle distance runner and nigh-jumper, performs remarkably in both. Don Ponder, hurdler and sprinter. Don too has been playing around with the low hurdle record, missing it by 3f10ths of a second on two accasions. John Hayes, high hurdler, and a new- comer to the sport, is on trial. John Hatgi, low hurdler. No stranger to the timbers is this veteran of the sport. Jody Roberson, discus thrower. Jody is being counted on to pull down a rec- ord in this event. Carl Tuttle, sprinter. Perhaps more is expected of Carl than any other one per- son. He is liable to finish the' season with his name next to a Canal Zone lnterscholastic record.
