The McNeils owed some money on furniture, which the furniture movers kept trying to take away. This was only one of the many problems that took place. The sky is clear and the air still on this May 21, 1968. Preparations for the launching have been made in advance, and carefully checked by the scientific department of the United Nations. There are dignataries from many countries here today. Here comes the President of the United States and his aides. How do you do, Mr. President. Over there by that building is the Prime Mini ster of Russia, and across the street is the Prime Minister of Great Britain. Ladies and gentlemen, over there are those people who are to make this first trip to the moon. These people all volimteered for this mission. Each one of them graduated from the Crldersville High School in 1958. Each one is ready to take this momentous step. I have here a list of their names and also a few facts about their present life. Perhaps you would be interested to know that one of the passengers is the former Miss BETTY MAULT, now of Columbus, Ohio. Betty is married and has two lovely children. I am told they both have red hair, blue eyes, and freckles. Another passenger, LARRY MUSSER, is the owner and manager of a national chain of grocery stores known as Pangle's Master Markets. Larry began working for one of the Pangle's stores dur- ing high school days and he progressed to manager and finally bought out the chain to build it up to its present nation-wide fame. This emphasises the importance of high school jobs. LEO STILES II, an occupant of one of the front seats, is from Cridersville, Ohio, where he is co-manager of the Cridersville Elevator. As he has a great deal of business to transact in the course of a day, it is necessary for him to have the assistance of a secretary. His secretary, and also his wife, ls an occupant of one of the front seats. She is the former Miss LINDA METZ. Linda has a beautiful home in Cridersville, Another secretary on board is Miss JACKIE BURGOON of New York City. Jackie is employed as secretary to a prominent fashion designer there. She had extensive training in the field of secretarial work, and she is very happy in her job. One person who will be at home in the ship will be Miss PRISCILLA CRAWFORD. She has been an airline hostess for the Pan-American Airlines since the completion of her studies with that company a few years ago. Priscilla flies around the world twice a week in the course of a normal flight. She is well satisfied with her work. A representative from another field of work ls Miss SANDRA KISER. Sandra is a graduate of Ohio State University, and she is teaching the fifth grade at one of the schools in Cincirmati, Ohio. Sandra is very happy in her chosen vocation. CLASS PROPHECY JIM SPROUL ls one of the crew members on board ship. He has invented some of the electrical devices on the new missile. Jim graduated from college as an electrical engineer. Upon graduation he was employed by the Westinghouse Company, but he was soon transferred to government work to develop new electrical implements. Another member of the crew ls DICK HINEGARDNER. Dick designed the body of the ship. He was formerly employed as a designer for automobiles by the Ford Motor Company. Dick has made great strides in his work. Another passenger on board is also a secretary. She is the former Miss CAROLYN BAUMGARDNER who now resides ln St. Louis, Missouri, where she is employed by her husband. Carolyn has a nice home for her family in the suburbs of St. Louls. One of the generals representing the United States is DON RIPLIE. Don has been in the United States Army slnce graduation from high school, and he has advanced to the rank of general. The former Miss BETTY WILCOX is married and lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she is em- ployed in the office of a prominent businessman, engaged as an alronautical engineer. A man who may find interest in the vegetation on the moon is HERB PLAPP. Herb attended Mlchi gan State University and graduated with a degree ln forestry. He is working in the Cumberland Na- tional Forest as a ranger. He also has a greenhouse in the monmtalns where he has developed new varieties of plants. A woman who is employed now as a legal secretary to the Attorney General of the state of Illinois is also on board. She is Miss SALLY SCHGIER. Sally is quite interested in her work. The draftsman for many of the plans of this missile is ROGER LOWRY. I-le will be on board as a technical advisor. Roger is now llvlng in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, with his wonderful family. Here ls another passenger who' has entered the field of education. She is Miss PEARL ARMES of Boston, Massachusetts. Pearl is a graduate from Ohio Northem University with a degree in public school music, and she is now teaching ln one of the public schools in Boston. She also is contented ln her chosen vocation. One of the members of this group is going as a purely non-professional member. His name is JIM BAYLIFF. Jim graduated from college, and ls the friendly undertaker in San Franscisco. There you have it. That concludes the llst of passengers on this voyage. My goodness, how time fllesl We have only a few seconds until blast off time. Five seconds-four, three, two, one, O. They re off to the moon. Ladies and gentlemen, you have just witnessed one of the most important events ln history. Will they make it to the moon and back? Only time will tell. Yet, all of them have been prepared through extensive education and experience, and all of them have aimed at the moon. Mwkwyw 4,5 'E is-awww ,Q A ,x .. Before the operetta, the music department played and sang traditional Christmas carols. The first grade made up the rhythm band, and the second grade played the melody bells. The operetta, THE LOST DOLL, was a story about a young mother with a small daughter who went Christmas shopping at a Gift Shop. At the Gift Shop they were shown bears. blocks. bells, peppermint canes, candles, revolving Christmas trees, jigging sambos, and dolls. After the Doll Parade was over an expensive doll was found to be missing.
