When I arrived, it was mid-afternoon, and I decided to go for a swim. I went to my big hotel, and who should I see typing behind the counter, but DORIS WERLING. Now Gertie, I've seen girls in movies with beautiful sun tans, but she has the most beautiful one I've ever seen in person. She had on very mod- ern clothes. When I asked how she was, she said just great. She works in this hotel as private secretary to the general manager. She holds a very important position here. She told me of another fellow classmate who was in Florida. She said he was on the beach, Gertie, so I put on my new swim suit, and headed for the beach to meet a man. I didn't see anyone I knew on the beach, so I decided to take a swim first. When I got out so far, I realized I didn't know how to swim in the first place, and started to go under. I yelled for help, and when I came to on the beach, there was the lifeguard giving me artificial respiration. I would have liked to do that all over again, Gertie, because he was really handsome. When I was seeing better, I recognized the lifeguard. I-le was BILL HINEGARDNER. I asked him what he was doing out here, and he said he is a top artist for the biggest newspaper in Florida. I guess lifeguarding is his pastime. I-Ie has a beautiful bronze tan, that I'll remember always! I! When I was breathing better, I went back to the hotel and rested. I stayed there only 2 days, then headed back to Ohio, where my plane landed in Columbus. Like every woman, Gertie, I heard of a sale at a new store in Columbus, so I naturally decided to go. The name of the store was Madam Wolfe's Paris Selections. I was browsing around when I saw a sign on the door upstairs that said Madam Martha. I thought I'd just like to see this Madam, so I went up and knocked on the door. It opened, and who did I see sitting in the office, but BEVERLY LOWRY. She really was a beautiful sight with her long blond hair, and wearing a Paris selection. I asked her what she was doing here, and she said she was working as private secretary to a classmate. I asked who, and she said walk in and see. I went in the next door, of course, and who was it, but MARTHA WOLFE! She is the manager of this new store. Her office is so big and modern, that it makes me wonder why I didn't do something with my life. All three of us went out to dinner that evening, and talked of their success. Martha said ifI ever needed clothes, to call. But Gertie, you know what I'd look like in a Paris selection, Ugh! I've gained too much weight in ten years. The next day I decided to rent a car and drive back to Wapakoneta. I looked through the car rentals, until I found one that said: If you are looking for a car, truck, bus, or jet, just come see me, Jack Winget! Well, Gertie, you guessed it. It was that witty JACK WINGET from our class of 5'7'1 He showed me all his cars, and said he was really making the money. He certainly has a good business head on him, Gertie, I guess he is married now, and has four children. It must be nice to be married, although I wouldn't know. I finally picked out a 1957 Eldorado convertible, and headed for Wapakoneta. When I was almost home, I guess I got anxious and put my foot on the gas too hard, anyway I was doing 90 when I heard a siren. I stopped and the patrolman stepped from his car. I thought I'd had it, until I looked at him in the face. Why Gertie, it was NORMAN KIRCHNER. I-le began writing me a ticket, when I started inquiring about his life since 57 . He said he was a first-class patrolman and now has a wife. He remarked, since he knew me and since he thought one warning would be enough, that's all he would issue. He sure looked slick in that uniform! When we parted, he gave me a last warning, and I was on my way home once again. 1 I arrived home, just in time for a wonderful demonstration of Singer Sewing machines. I was look- ing them over, when I thought I recognized one of the demonstrators. When I moved closer, I saw it was CAROL THOMAS. She can really sew, Gertrude. She told me she makes all her clothes, and even designs some for special occasions. She enjoys her work very much, and is living a wonderful life. lguess that's all of them, Gertrude. Don't you wish you could have been with me to see them now as career people? I-lello--Hello--Gertrude? Are you still there? Oh well, I guess we got cut-off!! !! R7
