' Teaches-First and Second Grade Years at Cridersville-1945-47 CLASS HISTORY A few hours ago while reminiscing I pondered upon the years that have gone. My thoughts immediately went back to that fall day: twelve years ago,'when twentyneight. perfectly strange students en- tered Cridersville scrooli At that r' 3 those twelve years seemed so long, and now looking back over timer seem only to have been yesterday. We entered the first grade with much eagerness, wondering what ever thin was about. Miss Ritchie latgv Mrs. Reichelderfer, was Y S D . r teacher. WM what a ,ainful wob she must have hadin That ear QU Y P c passed quickly and most of us were ready for an advancement to the second grade. Now, what will this year bring? The second grade proved to be loads of fun and each day brought new things. In fact a new teacher was in store for us. This was none other than Miss Headapoi . Entering the third grade was still better and we felt bigger and biggera Miss Hoadapole was still our teacher and oh yes, we have af new classmate. Don Hall from Rising Sun, entered our class to help make it more cheerful. g During the fourth and fifth grade, it was pretty much the same routine, a lot of fun, but uorf difficult of course. We hate an- other teacherg Mr. Strausburg, who at times was rather frightening but never really harmfula In our fifth grade we came to our pre- sent school building and that gave us something else to be proud bf. The sixth grade was a little more difficult to understand but with Mrs. Wauben at our side to guide us over the rough spots we managed and quite well too. Mr. Souders was in charge of the seventh grade and now we were really doing places. We were on the second floor and after all isn't that what we had always dreamed of? But suddenly we were whizze back on the first floor and our dreams were all shatteredl Wal , we made it to the eighth grade with Miss Beagle as our instructor, Near the end of school was that wonderful day of grad- uation. Uhg in September we would be freshman. l High school was so much fun, with the privilege of changing classes and a lot of different teachers. We certainly were adults now, we presented our first class play, NT.rgains in Haircutsu and how can we overlook that Freshman Intiation. It was a mixture of everything, including fun and the fact that we were all quite frightened of those mighty seniors. We earned our place in high school after that punishment. Gur Sophomore year brought us another student from Central High School, Jeanne Harshe. Entering our Junior year of school we were all thrills--just thinking of reception and various other events. This year brought us another new member, Maxine Werling from Blume High School. The class play presented was NThe Chintz Cottagen and it was quite suc- cessful. This brings us up to the present time 1947 when we arevall seniors: those that entered school together: Bill Crouse, Bob Bier- inger,.Jim Long, Ned Mowery, Olin Young, Marjorie Fogt, and Betty Miller and those who joined us later, Don Hall, Jeanne Harshe and Mamine Werling. Of course we're looking forward to thatfddyywhen we say good-bye to C. H. S. but each of us wonder what the new world holds in store for us and our classmates. This is the part- ing of the way for all of us and so in leaving we want to wish the best of success to those left at the good old schoolg also we'll betseeing you soon. Mike says rhf is getting llong real well! I en- joyed greatly my visit Yith Iaxine and she promised to vrite to me in the near future. Hov time does fly!! It seems only yesterday that I go vhizzing around the corner on his motorcycle and I 4 SSW JIM LUNG o mean whizz- ing, too. L-tely, I have heard Jim's name mentioned on the radio there he had been in notor:ycle races in all the large cities: 'Fri- sco, New York, China. , an' to '. In spin- o, he has his own shop where he sells, repairs, and does anything that's connected vith mo- tocycles. To has, you might say, e girl in every Hporth, too. As I glanced through the gapers the other day, on the sports page I saw vhere OLIN IObhG's C the boy vith the haircutl horse had come in first in a Horse rece at the San shite r ce track. - Q ?F.-nylriul --. -A-A--M -n I read.on in --L..n.,r.1-- -l l5i2C3l3l-1ECY- the paper and it said that he had quite a fet race horses, had won many races, and was doing vcrv rell. I recall now that back in school he did have a couple Lo4eGS. I don't suppose that in high school he ever thought he'd make a career in this field. He has, hovever, achieved great success! Goodness me! Tho ever of us vould have thought when ve were in high schocl we rould someday really achieve fhet we wished to do af- ter our graduation in lQ47. Thile reading the sports section of the HCalifornia Gazettev last Sunday, I saw where Chio State college vas Quite prominent in bask- etball this year and who shouli he named as one of the coaches but NED MOWERY. The paper gave 1 .rief sketch of each of the coaches. Uf-Red, it said he had gone to the same college and had been Quite prominent in all the sports. I aementer, toO, that in school he had wanted to become a coach and his vish has been fulfilled. Imagine the surjrise I received the other dey then I glanced at the nevspaper and ter that my old alma Mater had a ticket to Colum- bus for state clarrionship in baskrttell. Since I had been given a few days off I decided to fly to columtus and see the game. It va really exciting especially vhen who should come out vith the team but an old classmate gpg DILRIIQQQ rho was coach of the Criders- ville team. Cridersville vas doing vell in this final gameaand as always bob was as happy as could be vhen the team was marked as the victor. His interest in hirh school sports had proved to be making success for his career. Well, I guess that concl des my rcninsing of the good old days in school. It has only been five years but many things have happened in those years. They have befi successful years and recalling all my schoolmates, they too have been successful. Perhaps one day in the near future ve can all meet together and talk and recall all the good times had during our years at Crilersville High! X X-NUTCG RHPHS SENIOR -,H F!'XCUL TY MM MM?
