Alvin Crannis President Frances Anne LaNeave Vice-President Merrilee Ogburn Secretary S terling Horner Treasurer Warriner Atkinson Reporter 7ftia Da Oun Li e—junior id On September 6, 1954, Crewe High School was invaded by the biggest swarm of eighth graders ever to hit it since 1952. Those eighth graders are now known as C. H. S. ' s working juniors. The eighth graders participated in quite a few extra-curricular activities. The boys played mightily on the Midget team (which went undefeated that year) and the Midget cheerleaders ' lungs worked just as mightily. We were very proud also to have Faye Thompson as our nominee in the first Homecoming Court. Our dance held in May brought out the entire school, in spite of their favorite saying, Go ' way, ya ' II are too young. As freshmen, we were still the largest and loudest class in C. H. S. This time our boys and girls were eligible for varsity sports which they entered with much en¬ thusiasm and much bench sitting. In the spring, Mrs. Bullock ' s Virginia History clas¬ ses took a trip to Williamsburg. It was en¬ joyed by all except for the nutty few who were almost kept down there. At the end of the year, we were still considered squirts but we held our ground firmly! When we finally became sophomores, we were treated with more respect and our noise was accepted as part of a school day. The girls were asked into clubs and the boys gave up their bench seats for a little playing action. Biology class perked up in the spring with the return of Nancy Lou and our dissection of dead, but very active frogs! Our homecoming float flew the banner, Sophomores—Nuf Said! At last after a long, hard climb, most of us became juniors, although we lost a few classmates along the way. And what could be more exciting than the day we received our class rings? Then to top the whole year off, our Junior-Senior arrived and after much hard work, our dream of giving a wonderful prom and banquet came true. Now, at the close of our history, we would like to wish the seniors Good Luck and leave with the underclassmen this reminder, We will be the seniors next year.
