Geiser, J. Anfang, P. Lundequam, S. Stone, R. Floeder, W. Angvik. In its initial season, the soccer team, coached by Brother James Miller, stressed youth and fundamentals. The final varsity record was 1-10-2. In Cretin's first soccer game, the team overcame inexperience to outscore St. Thomas 2-0 in non-conference play. After the initial win the team failed to score dur- ing the next three games, losing to Minnehaha Academy 2-0, St. Thomas 2-0, and White Bear 3-0. Pat Smith broke the scoring slump in a 4-1 loss to Blake. In the return game with Minnehaha Academy, Cretin, led by Captain John Volpe, held on for a 2-2 tie. After losing a close game at Shattuck 3-2, the Raiders went to Breck and lost 4-1. Alexandar Ramsey had too much for Cretin as they overpowered the first year squad '7-0. After losing 2-0 to Benilde at home, the soccer team traveled to Richfield and was shutout 4-0. In a hardfought battle and probably Cretin's best game of the season, the Raiders were defeated by State Champion Edina 3-1. All-Conference honorable men- tion went to fullback Roger Moder. The B-Squad finished a promising and successful season with a 4-2-3 record.

C3.IIlBI'3, clugtillo developing One of the oldest, yet most unique extracurricu- lars at Cretin is the Camera Club, featuring darkroom facilities equal to those of the best high school dark- rooms in the state. For more than thirty years stu- dents have mastered the processes of black and white photography, and have proven indispensible to the school newspaper and yearbook for their work in this field. This year's membership, twenty-five students, worked under the direction of Mr. Haag for their own personal satisfaction and to render services to differ- ent organizations, such as the religion and military departments.
