8 richard bacigalupo was named cadet colonel at the annual diamond promotions assembly on jan- uary 23rd. he received the command of the cretin brigade before the student body, the faculty, the officers' parents and alumni. eugene adrian was chosen brigade executive officer. the positions of battalion commander were awarded to terrence mc evoy, dennis getter, thomas ockuly, donald williams, and robert mc partlin. the brigade staff consisted of timothy thornton, robert beltz, den nis ayde, and john mc call. terrence trudeau was given the title of band major and andrew pets- chauer was announced crack drill commander.

following an opening loss to amery, wisconsin, the wrestling team went on to win eighteen consecutive victories. the team won the conference title with an unblemished 10-0 mark. the season featured many come from behind victories, and was highlighted by a. 27-21 triumph over number one rated st. cloud cathedral. after that win the raiders held onto the number one rating in the state for the rest of the season. the team entered the state tournament at st. cloud with high expectations but emerged in third place. coach smith attrib- uted the finish to tough seating and too many second place finishes. terry wells was the only cretin grappler to win a state title. he won it in the 120 pound weight class.
