'education is finding out that a whole new world exists at the high school after the classrooms have closed.' I6 mr. charles O J 'berg 9 director of the cretin players 'the mouse that roared' was this year's fall production for the cretin players. the story concerned a tiny, mythical european duchy, grand fenwick, that declares war on the united states for the sole purpose of being defeated, and receiving financial assistance. through mismanagement of their armed forces, grand fenwick unfortunately wins the war, and becomes a world power. starring bob mc mahon as tully bascom, blunder- ing commander-in-chief of fenwick's forces, the play involved about six weeks' work. approximately 60 people from five area schools were involved in the production. directing 'mouse' was mr. charles berg. mr. berg, who has been head of the cretin drama department since he joined the cretin faculty, has directed several plays. he has been an active member of the english department. gradually expanding the drama department since he took command, mr. berg has also included musical productions in his undertaking. in fall of the 1965-66 school year, he directed 'my fair lady'. with the help of the cretin concert band, mr. berg put on a successful production.
