gzotlw Keaton Four years ago the Class of '61 entered Cretin an unorganized collection of individua who possessed neither overall maturity nor a common purpose. Thpatsaroe class graduates this year a well-organized group of young men characterized hy. i1,Ai,t heir maturity in a common cause. V' , ', QQ, . I -i g '1.' Qiffiji i',s Many factors contrihutedjto the engineering of this transfoririatiori,--but there was one individual whose efforts were most noticeable and most effective, ',', who, in fact, served as prime mover of this change. This man is Brother Kevin 'Mark. Brother Mark was in constant contact with the Class of ,61 as a teacher, as an adviser, and as moderator. As a teacher and as an adviser, Brother Mark exerted a continuous influence on his students. Though a busy man, he always took the time to develop a personal, man-to-man relationship with each of his students. He was never too busy to offer a word of advice or to provide a sympathetic ear, to anticipate or solve a problem, or to offer encourage- ment or commendation. The characteristic maturity of the Class of '61 is largely due to this personal contact with a strong, guiding, ever- helpful personality, As moderator, Brother Mark molded his department into a unified, well-led, successful organization. He provided it with a unifying common purposezfthe constant service of God as embodied in the Class of'f61is motto: Let us remember that we are in the holy presepnicenof God. He instilled in its . leaders a burning desirefforfoverall excellence. developed their ability to organizeiandffdpirect. and trained them. in ' a method ol' operation, ffQuietY'Effectiveness, which became the hyword ol' the'Class oft '61, He provided his department with the Hrrn, inspiring guidance that made so successful all its activities. All that the Class of '61 is, all that it stands for, and and all that it has done is largely the product of Brother Mark's eiiorts. To this dedicated, highly-religious man, to his strong, magnetic personality, to his untiring efforts, the Class of '61 owes a debt that can never be repaid. To this man who has done so much for us, we, the Class of '61, dedicate this book and pray that his great success in the work of his Master, which has earned for him a permanent-place in our hearts and prayers, iriayfj? lipl continue to bring souls'iifI- closer to God and may earn for him the full- r est measure of di- vine reward. 18 l
