BENEDICT 110 Religion, World History, Modern History, Golf, Senior Class Moderator Mother's Club Moderator 5 rf Brother Anthony, head of Cretinis biology depart- mcnt. was advisor and religion teacher to the thirty-two men in Advisory itil this past year. This lovable old fellow has been at Cretin since 1936, and has helped many graduating classes with his fine reileetions and practical philosophy. lie is interested only in the welfare ol his stu- dents. giving them all the help he can through his stressing of the principles in everyday life. One of his main objectives is to teach his students to think for themselves. His ever ready humor and satirical comments prove both interesting and educational because they usually get the point across. Born and raised in St. Paul and a Cretin graduate himself-sClass of 1917- Brother Anthony has achieved a close association with all the Cretiuites coming under his care. By this close association, students soon realize how lucky they are to come in contact with such a swell guy. .Anita X 4 f . MR. WILLIAM JOYCE 116 U.S. History, Sociology, Hockey Brother Alan Benedict, the colorful, energetic advisor of 110, ably filled the post of moderator ol the class of 753. Through this position he has had a chance to put into action his belief that it is his vocation to help boys. It is a welcome and familiar sight to see Brother walking thc halls with a student dispensing his practical advice with warmth and forthrightness. Always vigorous in supporting any class activities, drives or collections, he is intensely interested not only in the spirit of his own advisory, but also that of the whole school. Brother has inspired initiative in all those under his authority, yet he manifests deep personal con- cern in each one's endeavors and difficulties. As class moderator he has helped mold 212 young men intoa great senior class. We are truly fortunate to have been given an opportunity to develop under the guidance of a man of such caliber. I., ef? Professor Joyce, our capable hockey and assistant football coach. has been advisor of ll6 for the past three years. llis understanding, broadmindedness. and homey colloquiallisms have endeared him to the hearts of all his students. He has acquired an en- viable student-teacher relationship in all his classes which makes a pupil want to take l l'ed'i into his confidence and Seek the friendly adxiee he knows is waiting for him, The relationship has brought out thedbest in the fzf116'ers7, and has made them a top advisory with class spirit and desire at a maximum. ln his social studies classes, Prol keeps interest high by leading lively discussions on controversial stilijeetsjof the day. Mr. Qfoyce will be long remembered for his practi- eal advice as well as his many athletic achievements.
