OP CHESTRA The organization presents an opportunity for students of stringed mstruments to obtaln experience 1n ensemble play mg As soon as their progress warrants it students doing y1ol1ng class vv ork are brought into th1s group The orchestra meets for rehearsal once each vs eek STUDENT SWING BAND The Swing Band was organized 1n Septembei 1939 by Mr Peters for the purpose of making available a student group to provide dance musl and entertainment for social hours school parties and other activities Thev e swung it this year for five social hours a P T A meeting the February Prom the sophomore card and bunco party and between the acts of the Dramatle Club play RADIO CLUB For the first year the radio club s program has been fair in accord 1nce YV1t 1 all the difficulties that seem to st nd 1n the x ay The meetings a e held on the second lhursday of every month with the purpose of teaching boys the How and Why of radio parts Any high school boy with satisfactory scholastic record 15 eligible to Join the c ub Various ty pes of radios are being built One of the things made was be heard ox er the loud speaker after being transmitted through the radio 'md the microphone Some boys are making rad1os that have from one to three tubes and otners are making crystal sets An excellent basis for radio study can be obtained 111 a class like tlus Mr Ivens IS the lnstructor and he IS well founded 1n teaching radio methamcs and IH helping the boys with their projects BOYS GLEE CLUB The h1gl1 school boys glee club was organizer in the latter part of October 1939 urdei the d1rect1on of Miss McCoy and Mr Paul There are f1fteen members enrolled in the group The only public appearance of tl1e group was made at the Com munity Christmas Party Since tleat t1r1e the group has been working on elected three part harmony The boys hop to progress rapidly and perhaps take part in the operetta next year SEVENTH AIND EIGHTH GRADE GIRLS CHORUS The seventh and eighth gride girls chorus started the year with a candy sale in October The proceeds from this sale were used to buy copies of two new pieces of music The two public appearance of the year were at the P T A meeting on March 19th and the seventh and eighth grade assembly program At the P T A meeting the girls sang Come to the F'a1r and I Passed by Your Window Fifty One N , Y. .
