PEP CLUB Crete Hi's athletic events would truly be dull without HThe Pep C1ub.N This year requirements were set up, and each of the forty-five members had to qualify in order to belong to the organization, Crete's rooters could always be recognized at any game by their bright red parks jackets and their royal blue skirts, plus enthusiasmi ' The officers were Mary Jo Kobes, president, Mary Ann Nedela, vice-presidentg Eunice Sehrein, secreb taryg Florence Stejskal, treasurer, Grace Duchek, business manager. Miss Wilma Bute was an ef- ficient sponsor, ' ' Shirley Pflasterer Cseniorl, Paul Jensen Qseniorj and Patty Conrad Cjuniorl were the cheerleaders who led the yelling of the Pep Club and the rest of the -students during 1940 and 1941. C. H. S. ELECTION One day each year is set aside for the school election, which follows the lines of regular'civic elections. Each class has a separate booth, and Election Day, 1941, office for next year. Sub- scriptions were sold to high school and junior high school students for 5d each semester. Officers of IEE CARDINAL staff were Editor-in-chief Lorna Jean Swanbomg Associate Editor Wayne Wheelerg Art Editor Gwen Lannomg Exchange Editors, Bernice Gardner and Dorothy Stehlikg Reporters, Wilma Davison, Norma Jean Hacker, Paul Jensen, Robert Kubat, Mary Jo Kobes, Helen Mager, Adelaide Novak, Shirley Pflas- terer, and Eunice Schrein. Miss Helen Anderson was the faculty adviser, and Harold Daum was the typist. LETTER CLUB The 1940-41 Letter Club initiated into its ranks twenty-three new members to boost its total member: ship for the year to 64 eligible participants. Officers for the past year were elected at the beginning of the year. They were as follows: Norman Stastny President Dick Vifquain Vice-President Gilbert Hereth Sec'y-Treasurer Charles Stahlhut Sergeann-at-Arms Officers for the coming year were also chosen, They are those boys: Donald Redman President Robert Dudley Vice-President Donald Bauer Sec'y-Treasurer Norman Maca Sergeant-at-Arms It has been an important function of the Letter Club throughout the years of its existance to se- lect captains for the various sports its members take part in. Captains for the year were Dick Vifquain, football captaing Gilbert Hereth, Norman Stastny and Merlyn Znamenacek, basketball co- captainsg and Raymond Horky, track captain. Next year's captains were also picked. Robert Dudley was chosen captain in basketballg Donald Bauer was named captian in track, and the club decided to chose an honorary football captain at the end of the pigskin season.
